Future RN🥰

Back in March I decided to apply for LPN passed the exam without even studying! However I didn’t enroll because I wasn’t ready. Two weeks ago I reached out to my advisor to enroll. She said “ Ummmm why not just do ADN based off your scores?” I thought about it, prayed about it. Wrote my essay and got ACCEPTED!!! #rn #Lemon8Diary

2024/12/4 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! Seeing my acceptance letter felt like a dream come true, and I know many of you out there are on a similar path, wondering how to navigate the journey to becoming a 'Future RN'. My initial plan was LPN, but after a chat with my advisor and a lot of reflection, I decided to aim for the ADN program. It really made me think about the different paths available and what truly felt right for my career goals. For anyone debating between LPN and ADN/BSN, I'd say thoroughly research each one. LPN programs are often shorter and get you into the workforce faster, which is amazing for some. But if you're looking for broader scope of practice and more career advancement opportunities down the line, an ADN or BSN might be a better fit. Don't be afraid to talk to advisors, current nurses, and even students in different programs. Their insights are invaluable! Passing the LPN exam without studying was a bit of a fluke for me, but honestly, preparing for nursing school entrance exams is crucial. Many schools require tests like the HESI or TEAS. My advice? Don't leave it to chance! There are tons of study guides, practice tests, and online resources available. Figure out your learning style and dedicate time to understanding the material, especially anatomy, physiology, math, and reading comprehension. A strong foundation will boost your confidence and your scores. The application process itself can feel overwhelming, especially writing that personal essay. My biggest tip for the essay is to be authentic. Share your 'why' – what drew you to nursing? What experiences have shaped your desire to care for others? Let your passion shine through. And proofread, proofread, proofread! Ask a trusted friend or mentor to read it over for you. Once you get that coveted acceptance letter, the next step is often orientation! I'm already looking forward to my 'UNIVERSITY RN NIGHT ORIENTATION', as it's the first step to truly immersing myself in the program. Orientation is usually packed with essential information about your curriculum, clinical placements, resources, and often a chance to meet your future classmates and instructors. It’s a great opportunity to ask all your burning questions and get a feel for student life. Make sure to attend and absorb everything you can – it sets the tone for your whole nursing school experience. Finally, remember that this journey is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be tough days, but the reward of helping others and making a real difference is immeasurable. Believe in yourself, stay organized, and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We're all in this together, supporting each other to become the best 'Future RNs' we can be!
