Mom Self Care

Raise your hand if taking care of yourself feels either selfish, or guilty?

I have been there a few times. It seems impossible to take care of ourselves because in a way we feel like we’re doing something wrong :/

Here’s your friendly kind reminder that selfcare doesn’t have to be something extravagant and expensive.

Sometimes selfcare can be having alone time in the morning (or night), grabbing our favorite coffee every once in a while 🤍

Tag a mom who needs to hear this 🤍& follow along if you’re a mom who’s looking to simplify life and find yourself again after postpartum

... Read moreFinding time for yourself as a new mom can feel like an impossible task. Between sleepless nights, endless feedings, and navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood, the idea of self-care often gets pushed to the very bottom of the to-do list, if it even makes the list at all. Many of us feel a pang of guilt just thinking about taking even five minutes for ourselves, believing it's selfish. But here's a loving reminder: self-care isn't a luxury; it's a necessity, especially for new moms. It's about replenishing your own cup so you can pour into your family without completely draining yourself. Think of it as putting on your own oxygen mask first. If you're running on empty, it's harder to be the patient, present, and joyful mom you want to be. The good news is, self-care doesn't have to be extravagant, expensive, or involve a spa day (though those are wonderful when they happen!). It's about finding small, consistent ways to nurture your well-being. So, how can you actually implement these vital Mom selfcare tips, even with a newborn or a busy toddler? It’s all about micro-moments and realistic expectations. Here are some practical tips that have personally helped me and many other moms I know: Embrace the 5-Minute Rule: You'd be surprised what you can do in five minutes. Take five deep breaths. Step outside for five minutes of fresh air. Listen to one favorite song. Stretch your body. Apply a quick face mask. These tiny pockets of time can shift your mood and energy significantly. Hydrate & Fuel Your Body: It sounds simple, but staying hydrated and eating nourishing snacks can make a huge difference. Keep a water bottle with you constantly. Have pre-cut fruits, nuts, or energy bites readily available for quick grabs. You don't need a gourmet meal; a handful of almonds and an apple can be a lifesaver. Nap When Baby Naps (Sometimes!): While the urge to 'get things done' when the baby sleeps is strong, sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is rest. Even a 20-minute power nap can be incredibly rejuvenating. Prioritize sleep over folding laundry if you're truly exhausted. Ask for and Accept Help: This is a big one. Let your partner take the baby for an hour so you can shower or have a quiet cup of coffee. Accept offers from friends or family to bring a meal, run an errand, or watch the baby while you nap. You don't have to be a superhero. Your village is there for a reason. Simplify and Let Go of Perfection: Lower your expectations for what your home 'should' look like or how much you 'should' accomplish. A messy house with a happy, rested mom is always better than a spotless one with a frazzled, burnt-out mom. Focus on essential tasks and let the rest go. Connect with Other Moms: Loneliness can be profound in new motherhood. Reach out to other moms in person or online. Sharing experiences, anxieties, and even just funny stories can be incredibly therapeutic and remind you that you're not alone. Mindful Movement: You don't need an intense workout. Gentle yoga stretches, a short walk around the block with the stroller, or even dancing to a fun song with your baby can release endorphins and boost your mood. Remember, self-care is a journey, not a destination. There will be days it feels impossible, and that's okay. Be kind to yourself, celebrate the small victories, and know that by taking care of you, you're nurturing the best version of yourself for your little one.
