When I first read Matthew 4:4, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God," I admit it sounded profound but a little abstract. We are more than just bodies needing physical sustenance; we have a spirit that yearns for connection, purpose, and truth. The "bread" in this verse represents everything earthly – our jobs, relationships, entertainment, material possessions – all the things we often chase to feel complete. While these aren't inherently bad, they can never fully satisfy the deepest hunger of our souls. That's where "every word that comes from the mouth of God" comes in. This isn't just about reading a book; it's about engaging with divine truth, with the very breath of God. Like the OCR mentioned, "LA PALABRA ES NUESTRO ALIMENTO," the Word is our food. It's what "ALIMENTA NUESTRO ESPÍRITU" – it feeds our spirit. Just as our bodies need daily meals to function, our spirits need daily spiritual nourishment from God's Word to thrive. It's what "NOS DA FUERZA" – it gives us strength to face temptations, overcome challenges, and live purposefully. I've learned that when I feel that spiritual fatigue, that lack of desire to "ABRIR LA BIBLIA" or "LEER LA PALABRA," it's often a sign that my soul is hungry. It’s a call to action, not to stay in bed, but to get up and "PEDIRLE AL SENOR FORTALEZA" – to ask the Lord for strength. I've found that simply praying, "God, I don't feel like it, but I know I need You. Please increase my faith and give me the desire to open Your Word," makes a huge difference. The OCR also highlights "AUMENTE TU FE," emphasizing that faith plays a crucial role. It’s not about willpower alone; it’s about inviting God into our weakness. Practically, this means making a conscious effort, even when it's hard. Start small – a single verse, a short devotion, or just a prayer to connect. The power isn't in how much we read, but in the heart behind it and the consistent engagement. It's about remembering that His words are life, truth, and the ultimate source of strength for our journey. So, if you're struggling, know you're not alone.
