Second Year into Motherhood

To every mother out there — the new mums, the tired mums, the single mums doing everything on their own, the widowed mums carrying both grief and motherhood, and the mothers who have experienced the pain of losing a child… 🤍

You are doing better than you think.

Motherhood comes in so many different forms, and every journey carries its own quiet struggles that not everyone gets to see. Some days feel overwhelming, exhausting, lonely, and emotionally heavy — but somehow, we still keep going for our babies.

Along the way, motherhood changes us too. It teaches us patience, strength, sacrifice, and a kind of love we never knew existed.

This Mother’s Day, I hope every mum remembers this:

you are seen, appreciated, and never alone in this journey. 🤍

... Read moreThe second year into motherhood often reveals a profound shift in perspective and daily life routines that many new mothers may not anticipate. Personally, I found that the exhaustion I experienced as a working woman was nothing compared to the kind of tiredness motherhood brings—a fatigue so deep, it touches emotional and physical limits in ways I had never imagined. One of the biggest realizations for me was how motherhood reshapes priorities entirely. My days now revolve around the needs of my child, from planning meals that she can safely enjoy to adapting my schedule around her moods and developmental milestones. It's a demanding yet rewarding process that truly changes how I view time and self-care. Patience, which seemed like a natural ability in others, became a hard-earned virtue in the face of sleepless nights and toddler tantrums. But through these challenges, I have learned that children are incredibly perceptive, absorbing the behaviors and emotional responses of their parents as their primary example in the world. Some days feel monotonous and exhausting, yet I remind myself that these fleeting moments will someday become cherished memories. Even on days when I am sick or overwhelmed, the continuous demands of motherhood mean there’s little relief, yet this experience has taught me resilience and unconditional love like no other. Motherhood does not come with a manual, and every day continues to be a learning journey. The beauty of this journey lies in its imperfections and the personal growth it fosters. As we honor mothers this Mother’s Day, it’s important to remember that every mother’s struggle is unique, but none are alone in this demanding, transformative experience.

The Motherhood Chapter I Kept Quiet… Until Now
No one warned me how hard the fourth trimester would be. I didn’t share much about it either. It just felt like mothers are not given enough time to ease into this role. Of course I wasn’t ready. I felt like I was drowning in emotions, expectations and even guilt. I was learning motherhood whi

First time engaging a confinement nanny? Read this

5 lessons from my hardest year as a new mom in SG
I didn’t expect motherhood to undo me like this. I’m a zillennial mom — early 90s, right on that millennial–Gen Z line. We grew up on PSLE stress, survived NS or poly/JC, and were taught early on how to move fast. Fast to understand. Fast to adapt. Fast to not fall behind. I carried th
