In NYC

Having been to JUQI a few times, I can say it’s become my go-to place for authentic Beijing flavors here in New York! I first came here last March, and the Peking Duck immediately won me over—it’s seriously one of the best in NYC!

Having spent 4 years in Beijing for university, I was craving all the classic Beijing street foods. JUQI brings that feeling back—while it may not be 100% identical to what I had in Beijing, it’s definitely a solid option in NYC, especially considering there aren’t many spots offering authentic Beijing cuisine here.

Here are the standout dishes I’d recommend:

1. Lu Zhi Huo Shao : This dish is an absolute must-try! It’s got all the right ingredients: pork intestine, tofu, and pig lung, all mixed with chewy huo shao (a kind of fried bread). The flavors are spot on!

2. Peking Duck: Be sure to go for the whole duck, not half. The skin is crispy, the meat tender, and it’s served with the classic accompaniments. I’ve heard some say the half duck doesn’t always deliver, so I highly recommend the full experience.

3. Qianlong Cabbage: This is a surprising one! The cabbage is incredibly crisp—I didn’t expect it to be so refreshing and satisfying.

4. Duck Mi Fu Da Bao: A light, refreshing option that pairs beautifully with duck sauce. A nice balance to the richer dishes.

5. Chao Gan: This is a dish that’s a bit more polarizing, but I’m a fan! If you enjoy offal, this dish will make you nostalgic for the real Beijing experience.

While there are some mixed reviews online, JUQI is definitely one of the top choices for Beijing cuisine in NYC, especially if you miss those flavors from Beijing. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

For those seeking authentic Beijing flavors, JUQI stands out. Located in one of the bustling neighborhoods, JUQI offers a menu that pays homage to traditional dishes like Peking Duck, which is known for its crispy skin and tender meat, perfect for any dining occasion. In addition to Peking Duck, other specialties worth trying include 'Lu Zhi Huo Shao', a unique blend of pork intestine and tofu, and the refreshing 'Qianlong Cabbage'. These dishes encapsulate the essence of Beijing's rich food culture. It's also essential to try 'Chao Gan', which is a rare treat in New York and will surely evoke nostalgia for true Beijing street food lovers. To ensure a memorable experience, consider dining with friends and sharing a variety of dishes to fully appreciate the range of flavors available. The ambiance and service at JUQI also contribute to a delightful dining experience, making it a perfect place for both casual meals and special occasions. So, if you're in New York and find yourself longing for authentic Chinese street food, JUQI is a must-visit destination.
