Lil things I bought till I move

I’m moving in like September and I have everything for kitchen, 2 bedroom set ups, 2 tvs, dining table and chairs and an entertainment center. I am planning on buying a new couch and bed frame once I move.

I’ve dedicated $50-$100 each check to get things for the apartment that I wouldn’t think of until I’ve moved in.

Here’s what I bought:

-Pads so I would have some just in case I was out by then

-Paper towels and a holder

-Toilet paper bc when my family moved to our current place we didn’t have any day of

-Qtips

-Face wash I like the black African soap

-Medicine bc you don’t know when you’ll need it

-First aid kit

-Dental supplies: toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, mouthwash

-Shower liner

-Shower hooks

-Cleaning supplies: Hand soap, All purpose spray, windex, Ajax, disinfectant wipes, toilet bowl cleaner, toilet bowl brush, sponge, floor scrubber, cup/dish scrubber

All from dollar tree! Gotta save where you can!

Total was $47

... Read moreMoving into a new apartment can be overwhelming, but having the right essentials on hand makes settling in much smoother. Over the years, I've learned that aside from furniture and big-ticket items, small, everyday products often get forgotten until it's too late. That’s why I love setting aside a modest amount each paycheck, like $50-$100, to gradually gather necessities. From my personal experience, some of the most useful items to stock up on before moving day include paper towels and toilet paper — these basics are absolute lifesavers on moving day and the first few nights. Purchasing them in advance prevents last-minute runs to the store when you’re exhausted. Medicine and first aid kits are another must-have, especially since moving can sometimes come with minor scrapes or headaches. I keep pain relievers like ibuprofen handy, along with allergy relief and triple antibiotic ointment just in case. For personal care, black African soap has become a favorite face wash of mine due to its natural ingredients and effectiveness. Cleaning supplies are also vital: an assortment of disinfectant wipes, all-purpose spray, glass cleaner, sponges, and scrubbers help quickly tidy up the new space before fully unpacking. Shower liners and hooks are inexpensive but critical to avoid water damage and maintain the shower curtain’s cleanliness. What I appreciate most is that many of these essentials can be found at budget stores like Dollar Tree, where saving money doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. Spending roughly $47 on all these items was reassuring, knowing I’m prepared without stretching my budget. For anyone preparing to move, consider creating a checklist that includes these smaller but essential products. It not only reduces stress but also gives you time to find what you need before the chaos of moving begins. The hashtag #movingessentials perfectly sums up this approach: planning, preparation, and practicality make all the difference.
