Hey everyone! So, building a C.A.M.P. in Fallout 76 is one of my favorite things to do. It’s not just about having a base; it’s about expressing yourself in the wasteland! My first build was definitely a learning experience, and I wanted to share some of the things I picked up along the way to help you deploy your camp and create something amazing. Picking Your Perfect Spot & Deploying Your C.A.M.P. First things first: location, location, location! When you're ready to deploy your camp, think about what you need. Do you want a water source for purifiers? A scenic view? Or maybe a strategic spot near a resource node? I learned early on that placing your C.A.M.P. near a fast travel point or a good farming location can save you tons of time. Consider flat ground for easier building, but don't be afraid to embrace uneven terrain – it can lead to some really unique base ideas. My first camp I tried to cram onto a hill, which gave me some structural headaches, but eventually I made it work with some clever foundation placement! Unleashing Your Inner Architect: Camp Ideas & Inspiration There are endless camp ideas out there! Don't feel like you have to build a giant fortress right away. My first build started as a simple shack, but soon I got inspiration from other players and started adding more. Think about a theme: a cozy cabin, a bustling marketplace, a high-tech lab, or even a pre-war diner. You can get tons of camp inspiration from YouTube or even just by walking around other players' camps in-game. What kind of story do you want your base to tell? I always try to incorporate the environment into my build, like using existing trees or rocks as part of the structure. Essential Camp Items & Furnishings Once you have your location and a general idea, start thinking about your camp items. Beyond the basics like crafting stations and beds, what makes your camp feel like home? I love adding little touches like the Nuka-Cola machine or a nice seating area. And for pure fun, if you can get your hands on a 'cauldron hot tub' plan, it makes for a fantastic social spot! Don't forget defense, though. Turrets are your friends, especially if you're in a high-traffic area. Remember, you can store items you don't need immediately to save on your budget. Mastering Your Build Budget & Advanced Techniques One of the biggest challenges for new builders is the build budget. It feels so limiting at first! My best advice for how to increase build budget is to keep it simple initially. Focus on functionality. As you level up, your budget increases, but you can also manage it by scrapping unused items or being mindful of how many unique items you place. Large structures, especially those with lots of walls and roofs, eat up budget quickly. For power, I found that using a combination of generators and a switch board can help manage complex layouts, especially if you're trying to power multiple devices. Sometimes, thinking about where each component SLOTs into your overall plan helps optimize space and budget. Another pro-tip: save your layout as a camp blueprint! This is a lifesaver if you decide to move your C.A.M.P. later, letting you rebuild your base with ease. Exploring Custom Worlds and Community If you really want to experiment without worrying about resources or budget, custom worlds are an amazing feature. They give you unlimited building potential and are a fantastic place to practice new camp plans or try out wild base ideas before committing to them in the adventure mode. The Fallout 76 community is also incredibly creative, so don't hesitate to ask for building guide tips or share your own creations – you'll often find someone willing to help or offer new inspiration!
