... Read moreHey Tamagotchi fans! Like many of you, I've had my share of ups and downs trying to raise a perfect Tamagotchi. It felt like a constant battle to keep those little pixels happy and healthy, especially when aiming for a specific character like Mametchi on the Gen 1. I know the struggle is real when you see that health meter dropping or you're unsure if you're feeding your companion just right. Let's talk about feeding your Tamagotchi because this is where many people, myself included, used to go wrong. The OCR mentioned "DO NOT FEED HIM SNACKS," and seriously, this is key! Snacks are tempting because they instantly fill the 'happiness' meter, but they also quickly increase weight and can lead to discipline issues if overused. Think of them as junk food for your virtual pet. My rule of thumb? Only use a snack if your Tamagotchi is truly sad and you need a quick boost, or if you're actively trying to increase happiness for evolution. For daily sustenance, stick to the main meal option. Monitoring your Tamagotchi's weight is crucial too, as highlighted by "KEEP HIM IN GOOD WEIGHT!!!" Overfeeding with meals or snacks can make your Tamagotchi obese and sick, while underfeeding obviously starves them. I found that checking their weight status regularly in the 'status' menu is a game-changer. If they're 'chubby' or 'overweight,' cut back on meals slightly and play a game or two to burn off some calories. If they're 'skinny' or 'underweight,' make sure they get their full meals. It's a delicate balance, but once you get the hang of it, you'll see a big difference in their overall health. Now, onto the Tamagotchi health meter – those little hearts! Keeping them full is paramount, and it’s not just about feeding. "Keep his hearts up" involves a holistic approach. Play games with your Tamagotchi when they call for attention; this boosts happiness and prevents boredom, which can lead to sickness. Also, don't ignore those little attention calls! My biggest learning curve was realizing how quickly neglect can turn a happy Tamagotchi into a sick one. Speaking of sickness, "Keep him from getting sick!" is easier said than done sometimes. Sickness often manifests as a skull icon appearing. As soon as you see it, administer medicine immediately! Delaying treatment can be fatal. To prevent sickness, beyond attentive care, remember the "Clean up!!" instruction. If your Tamagotchi poops, clean it up right away. Leaving waste on the screen can make them sick. It's a simple, yet vital, part of their hygiene routine. Finally, the OCR wisely stated, "Discipline him!!" and "DO EVERYTHING RIGHT AWAY!" Discipline is for when your Tamagotchi calls for attention but refuses to play a game, or simply beeps without needing anything. It teaches them good behavior. And "DO EVERYTHING RIGHT AWAY!" is the golden rule for Tamagotchi care. Don't procrastinate on feeding, cleaning, playing, or disciplining. Your Tamagotchi relies entirely on you, and prompt action is the best way to ensure they grow into a healthy, happy adult, like that coveted Mametchi. Trust me, it's worth the effort!
