My husband and I were so excited to try this new spot, and it absolutely exceeded all our expectations. First off, the moment you step inside this gorgeous Chicago establishment, you're truly transported. The atmosphere is just divine – imagine a space filled with warm, inviting lighting, elegant decor that feels both classic and modern, and a gentle buzz that’s lively enough to feel vibrant but still intimate enough for a truly romantic date. We were seated at a lovely table, and the soft glow from the candlelight absolutely set the mood. It felt sophisticated, yet incredibly comfortable and welcoming, making it the perfect backdrop for a special evening. Now, let's talk about the food, because seriously, it was a culinary dream! Olio e Più brings a genuine taste of Italy to the heart of Chicago. We started with something light and incredibly fresh, reminiscent of that amazing thinly sliced fish I saw, possibly a delicate crudo or even a carpaccio. It was so beautifully presented, each bite bursting with fresh flavors and a hint of something unique – a perfect, elegant start to our meal. For our main courses, my husband, ever the steak connoisseur, went for their steak, and it was cooked to absolute perfection – tender, wonderfully seasoned, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I, on the other hand, opted for a rich, homemade pasta dish. Every forkful was pure bliss, authentically Italian and incredibly satisfying. I also couldn't help but notice some incredible side dishes being served at nearby tables, like vibrant, beautifully roasted cauliflower florets in an array of colors (white, yellow, purple, green!), and perfectly sautéed mushrooms with herbs, which looked absolutely irresistible. The variety on their menu is fantastic, ensuring there’s something exquisite for every palate. But the absolute highlight for me was dessert. Of course, it was Valentine's Day, so we indulged in a specialty dessert that was truly a work of art. It was a stunning heart-shaped creation, elegantly layered with fresh raspberries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a delicate touch of gold leaf. Not only was it gorgeous to look at, making for a perfect photo op, but it tasted as heavenly as it looked – the ideal sweet ending to our unforgettable evening. The service was impeccable too; our server was attentive without being intrusive, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly, making us feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout our meal. It’s clear the entire team at Olio e Più really values providing a top-notch dining experience. If you're looking for a special occasion spot, a romantic date night, or just an exceptional, authentic Italian meal in Chicago, I honestly can't recommend Olio e Più enough. It's quickly become one of our absolute favorite restaurants, and we're already planning our next visit to explore more of their delicious menu. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Just remember to make a reservation, especially for a popular night, because a place this good is bound to get busy quickly!
