Pistachio Cream
Pistachio Paste can be used to make pistachio cake, pistachio frosting, it can even be used to Mae ice cream. Just make the base, refrigerate it and it’ll last 1 month.
For this batch, I used:
1½ cups raw shelled pistachios
½ cup powdered sugar
2–4 tbsp heavy cream
1 tbsp neutral oil
Pinch of salt
I absolutely adore the beautiful, vibrant look of pistachio cream in desserts and on breakfast dishes. For the longest time, I thought achieving that perfect "aesthetic" was only possible with store-bought options or by painstakingly searching for specialist ingredients. But guess what? After some experimenting, I realized that making your own incredibly versatile PISTACHIO PASTE, which forms the base for this stunning cream, is not only simple but also gives you complete control over its color and consistency! Once you have your simple homemade PISTACHIO PASTE ready (using the recipe I shared), transforming it into an aesthetic masterpiece is all about presentation and how you choose to use it. First, let's talk about that gorgeous green hue. While some culinary pros blanch their pistachios to intensify the color, I find that using good quality raw pistachios often yields a lovely natural shade. If you want an even more striking visual, a tiny drop of green food coloring can do wonders, but always add sparingly to maintain that authentic look. Now, for the fun part: making your dishes look Instagram-worthy! Here are some of my favorite ways to use homemade pistachio cream to elevate any meal: Breakfast & Brunch Boost: Swirl a generous dollop into your morning yogurt bowl, topped with fresh berries (raspberries and strawberries offer a beautiful contrast!), granola, and a sprinkle of chopped pistachios. Or, drizzle it over fluffy pancakes, waffles, or French toast instead of syrup for an unexpected burst of color and flavor. Spreading it thinly on sourdough toast with a few slices of kiwi or banana also makes for a delightful and pretty start to the day. Elegant Dessert Dressings: This cream is a game-changer for desserts. Imagine piping delicate rosettes onto cupcakes or macarons, or using it as a luscious filling for choux pastry or crepes. For a really sophisticated look, layer it in clear glasses with whipped mascarpone, fresh fruit, and crumbled cookies to create stunning parfaits. A simple scoop of vanilla ice cream becomes instantly gourmet with a thick drizzle of this vibrant green cream and some dark chocolate shavings. Garnish with Flair: Don't underestimate the power of garnishes! A few fresh raspberries, a scattering of rose petals (if you're feeling fancy!), a sprig of mint, or even just a light dusting of powdered sugar can take your pistachio cream creation from tasty to truly artistic. I love pairing it with contrasting colors and textures to make the green pop. Experiment with different textures and pairings. The smooth richness of the pistachio cream works beautifully with the tartness of berries, the bitterness of dark chocolate, or the subtle floral notes of rosewater. With your homemade PISTACHIO PASTE, you're not just making a delicious ingredient; you're crafting a canvas for culinary creativity!
