Trying Coffee at HTeaO

⭐️ Rating: 7

I was expecting more of the original horchata flavor but the coffee overpowered it. I usually like more milk in my coffee so this one was a bit strong 😅

My usual tea is the sweet Texas Chai

My usual coffee here is the iced Carmel Macchiato

... Read moreHey everyone! So, I finally gave the much-talked-about HTeaO Horchata Iced Coffee a try, and I'm here to spill the tea (or coffee, in this case!) on my experience. I've seen a lot of buzz around HTeaO, especially since they're 'Born in Texas 2009' and have that iconic Texas-shaped logo. As a regular at HTeaO – typically for a refreshingly sweet Sweet Texas Chai or an Iced Caramel Macchiato – I was super excited to branch out into their coffee offerings, particularly this unique horchata blend. My initial thought was that it would be a perfect mix of that creamy, cinnamon-spiced horchata goodness with a subtle coffee kick. However, the first sip was quite a surprise! The coffee flavor was incredibly dominant, much stronger than I anticipated. While I appreciate a good, robust coffee, I was definitely looking for that delicate balance where the horchata could truly shine through. It felt like the coffee component really overpowered the traditional horchata notes, leaving me wishing for a bit more of that sweet, milky, cinnamon-infused base. If you're someone who loves a very strong, coffee-forward drink and enjoys just a hint of something different, this might actually be your new go-to. For me, personally, I usually prefer my iced coffee with a bit more milk or a smoother, less intense coffee profile. That's why I rated it a 7 out of 10 – it wasn't bad, just not quite what I was craving or expecting from a 'horchata' iced coffee. It had a definitely strong coffee taste and a hint of cinnamon, as noted in the image, but the balance wasn't quite right for my palate. Tips for Your HTeaO Horchata Iced Coffee Experience: Ask for extra horchata syrup or flavor: If you're like me and want more of that authentic horchata taste, don't be afraid to ask for an extra pump or two of the horchata flavoring. They're usually pretty accommodating! Request more milk (or a milk alternative): If you find it too strong, asking for extra milk can help mellow out the coffee intensity and make it a bit creamier. Try it blended: Sometimes, blending can alter the texture and perception of flavor, potentially making the horchata notes more prominent. Beyond this particular drink, HTeaO truly is a gem for iced tea lovers, and their other coffee options are worth exploring. The Iced Caramel Macchiato, for instance, is consistently delicious and a personal favorite for when I need a coffee fix that hits just right. My Sweet Texas Chai is always a comforting and perfectly spiced choice. So, while the Horchata Iced Coffee wasn't a perfect match for my taste buds this time, don't let that deter you from exploring HTeaO's extensive menu. There's definitely something for everyone, whether you're a tea enthusiast or an iced coffee connoisseur!
