Get to know me 🌸🤍✨

Hi I’m Yvette! I’m new to Lemon8 and I thought this would be a great place to share my testimony and find some friends that are on the same journey. ❤️

I grew up in a Seventh Day Adventist church and experienced so much trauma from people in and out of my church and as soon as I was old enough to have a say, I stopped going. I thought all church people were bad. I encountered so many “Christians” along the way that only turned me further away from God. 😢

I then experienced new age spiritually as an adult. I started slowly with meditation and yoga and purchased some crystals here and there. Then I began to do tarot cards and study witchcraft and performed spells using candles and herbs. And I was good at it too! Suddenly every wish and desire I had was coming my way left and right. ✨

I was living for myself and my worldly desires. It wasn’t until I was doing rituals and spells for fertility that it all came to a halt. I was frustrated that all of that money spent was not working. The one thing I wanted most wasn’t happening. And then my grandfather passed away. I was so lost. I was losing everything I cared about and all I had left was the money I “manifested.”

My grandpa was a very religious man who loved God and was always spreading the gospel in any way he could. The day of his memorial service I sat in my childhood church in tears because I was so confused about where my grandpa was going after death.

I had previously found temporary comfort in thinking there was no heaven. But, that no longer comforted me when it came to him. My grandpa deserved better than that. So I wrestled with my faith as we all prayed for him and my mourning family. I asked a million questions in my head that I was too scared to ask out loud. Is heaven real? Is my grandpa with God?

On the way home from his memorial service (a four hour drive) I was sobbing as my husband tried to comfort me and tell me he was in a better place. What was that better place? I could only focus on that in my mind on the drive home. About an hour in, I looked up and saw a tattered up billboard in the distance that read John 3:16.

I ignored it of course because I had no idea what it meant at the time. Another hour passed and I was still crying with a deep ache in my chest. I looked over to my right as I leaned my head on the window and noticed that the 18 wheeler had a sticker on the driver’s window that said John 3:16 on it. Nothing else, just that one sticker on the window right in front of my face. I immediately got the chills.

With a reluctant heart I googled what the scripture said. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” I dropped my phone and fell into my hands sobbing. In that moment I knew that God was trying to tell me that because my grandfather believed, he will have eternal life. And he was going to be okay. ❤️

It took me one whole year to change my mind about God and finally in August of this year, I returned to a church. And I have not missed a Sunday since. I got baptized in November and gave my life to Jesus. And it has been the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. I’m no longer living for me but living for God and following His will for me. 🤍✨ please follow me if you’d like to hear more of my story!! I appreciate you reading this far. (If you did) 🥰❤️✨ God bless you! #christiancreator #christiangirl #testimonial #godisreal #testimony

For those who have experienced trauma in religious settings, like myself in the Seventh Day Adventist church, finding your way back can be even more complex. After exploring new age practices such as meditation, crystals, and tarot, it's essential to recognize that these paths may offer temporary relief but often lack the deep fulfillment that true faith provides.
