The Basics
#lemon8diarychallenge I’m working towards building up my wardrobe “basics.” These are what I’ve chosen as my fall/winter basics. Some I’ve already had, some I bought off ThredUp and some I bought new. I know everyone says a button down is a basic but it’s definitely not in my wardrobe. I want to add statement pieces but I think that’ll happen later as I get to know and play around with my basics first. I still have a few more basic pieces to get.
What do your basics look like? Is there much difference between them during the different seasons? When I lived in Texas my basics would mostly be the same year round, but now I live somewhere with 4 seasons.
Building a versatile wardrobe starts with understanding your personal style and identifying the essentials you need for each season. Fall and winter basics are about layering and comfort while keeping fashionable. Key items such as oversized sweaters, classic jeans, and tailored outerwear can be interchanged to create various looks. Consider incorporating neutrals that can serve as a foundation for your outfit. Pieces like a white t-shirt or a black cardigan can be easily paired with vibrant statement accessories which can elevate your style effortlessly. Additionally, as you explore your basics, think about seasonal variations. In warmer climates, lighter fabrics and breathable materials are crucial, while in colder regions, thicker fabrics and layering become necessary. Remember to focus on the fit—foundational pieces should feel good and enhance your confidence. This way, your wardrobe basics not only meet your needs but also express your unique style comfortably. Engaging with fellow fashion enthusiasts can offer fresh perspectives on how to adapt your basics to reflect seasonal changes. Platforms like #basicsfashion allow you to share insights, ideas, and experiences, enriching your wardrobe-building journey.
