Which do you prefer?
From my experience, the biggest difference between open back and closed back headsets is comfort during extended use. Closed back headsets tend to trap heat and cause ear fatigue after just a few hours due to their sealed design. I found my ears felt cramped and tired, especially during long gaming sessions in Singapore's hot climate. In contrast, open back headsets allow air to flow through the ear cups, keeping my ears cooler and reducing that discomfort significantly. This makes them ideal for long hours of gaming at home. The openness also means the sound stage feels more natural and immersive, allowing me to pinpoint in-game sounds like footsteps and directional audio much more accurately. However, the trade-off is that open back headsets leak sound and don't block out surrounding noise. So, they're not suited for noisy environments or situations where you need to keep your gaming sounds private. If you often game in shared or loud spaces, a closed back headset might still be the better option. For me, the comfort and audio clarity from open back headsets outweigh the cons when used in a quiet environment. If you're considering trying open back headphones, give them a shot in your own gaming setup—especially if ear comfort and a wide soundstage matter to you.
