Day 1… again.
Honestly, I’ve lost count at this point. Between nursing school, bills, and just trying to keep up with mom life, I’ve been stress-eating more than I’d like to admit. The bingeing snuck back in, and yep — the apron belly came back, louder than ever.
It’s frustrating. I’ve had moments where I just feel tired and defeated. But I also know this isn’t supposed to be a perfect journey. It’s messy. It loops back on itself. And that’s okay.
So here I am, starting over. Again. No guilt, just trying to be honest with myself and take it one small step at a time.
If you’re in that same place, I get it. Let’s keep going, even if we’re crawling.

Managing apron belly, particularly after pregnancy, involves understanding the physical changes your body has undergone and adopting targeted exercises alongside lifestyle changes. Apron belly often results from factors like weight gain, stress-eating, and diastasis recti—a separation of abdominal muscles common post-pregnancy. The OCR content highlights key exercises such as weighted marches, bear holds, bird dogs, heel taps, weighted deadbugs, and cat/dog stretches, which are effective for strengthening the deep core muscles and improving abdominal separation. Weighted marches help engage your core and hip flexors, enhancing stability and posture. Bear holds activate the entire core and improve endurance, while bird dogs promote balance and coordination by simultaneously engaging the back and abdominal muscles. Heel taps and weighted deadbugs focus on lower abdominal strength, critical for closing the diastasis recti gap. Cat/dog stretches alleviate tension and improve spinal mobility, essential for recovering core function and reducing discomfort. Consistency with these exercises, combined with mindful eating and managing stress, plays a significant role in reducing apron belly. Weight fluctuations, especially due to stress, can exacerbate abdominal laxity, so small sustainable lifestyle adjustments are key. Setting realistic goals without guilt, embracing the non-linear nature of recovery, and listening to your body facilitate long-term improvement. Incorporating deep core workouts at home, even as a beginner, empowers moms balancing nursing school, parenting, and daily responsibilities to reclaim their wellbeing. Remember, healing is a journey with ups and downs—progress may be slow, but persistence and self-compassion will foster gradual transformation.
