Epic The Musical Cosplay: Poseidon

Wow, finally getting to share some behind-the-scenes thoughts on my Poseidon cosplay from Epic The Musical! Bringing this powerful character to life was such an incredible journey, and I’m so excited to dive into the details with you all. My aim was to recreate that iconic look: a majestic crown, often depicted with intricate details, and a flowing blue dress that evokes the ocean's vastness. I spent a lot of time sourcing the right fabric and embellishments to achieve that ethereal, underwater feel. The necklaces were a fun challenge, layering different styles to create a rich, ancient deity vibe. And of course, Poseidon wouldn't be complete without his symbols of power – a sturdy staff and pearls, which I tried to make look as authentic as possible. These small touches really elevate the entire ensemble and help connect it back to the character's lore. Then there's the makeup – oh, the dramatic makeup! This was crucial for transforming into the King of the Sea. I focused on creating that distinct reddish skin tone, which really makes the character pop, especially under certain lighting. And those intense blue eyes, sometimes glowing white, as depicted in some interpretations, are what truly give Poseidon his commanding presence. I experimented with different shades and techniques to get that piercing gaze just right, ensuring it conveyed both wisdom and immense power. Achieving that blue hue under specific blue lighting for the photoshoot was also a deliberate choice to enhance the aquatic theme and make the glowing eyes even more striking. Posing for this cosplay was another adventure. Poseidon is a god, and his posture needs to reflect that authority. I practiced different stances, trying to embody his regal yet fierce nature.
