MVP’s of Squid Game
Hey everyone! I know Squid Game took the world by storm, and honestly, even after rewatching it, I can't stop thinking about the players. Specifically, who were the real MVPs? For me, it wasn't just about winning the games, but about who showed the most resilience, strategy, or even humanity in that terrifying arena. I really felt like these three characters truly had the most motion and impact on the story and my emotions throughout the series. First up, my MVP pick is definitely Kang Sae-byeok (Player 067). From the moment she appeared, her quiet strength and unwavering determination captivated me. Sae-byeok wasn't just playing for herself; her entire focus was on getting her family out of North Korea and reuniting with her brother. Her resourcefulness, from picking pockets to her incredible agility during the 'Red Light, Green Light' game, truly made her stand out. Even in the face of betrayal and heartbreaking losses, she maintained a stoic dignity that made her journey incredibly compelling. She navigated the dangers of the Squid Game with a sharp mind and a quiet resolve that, for me, made her one of the most memorable and impactful characters. Next on my list is Seong Gi-hun (Player 456). While he started as a seemingly hapless gambling addict, Gi-hun’s journey was perhaps the most transformative. What made him an MVP for me wasn't just his luck, but his underlying capacity for empathy and kindness. In a game designed to strip away humanity, Gi-hun often tried to help others, even when it put him at risk. His moral struggles and eventual decision to confront the system after surviving the Squid Game showed incredible growth. He embodies the common person thrust into an impossible situation, and his emotional arc truly carried so much of the series' heart. And finally, for my third MVP, I have to go with Oh Il-nam (Player 001). Now, I know what you're thinking – the old man? But hear me out! His initial vulnerability, his apparent wisdom, and his bond with Gi-hun were all masterfully played. The twist revealing his true identity as the mastermind behind the Squid Game completely blew my mind and changed the entire perception of the series. His 'motion' wasn't physical, but strategic and deeply psychological, pulling all the strings from behind the scenes. He designed the terrifying games, observed human nature at its worst, and ultimately challenged the viewers to question the very nature of morality and choice within the brutal competition. His impact on the overall narrative and thematic depth of Squid Game is undeniable. These three characters, for different reasons, were the ones who truly resonated with me and had the most significant 'motion' in driving the story and exploring the dark themes of Squid Game.
