GOING ISLAND HOPPING? READ THIS 🏝️🇹🇭
recently went to phuket on holiday and wanted to share my experience and some tips for island tour. inserted my klook package on the second pic for reference
total price: ~$100 per pax (including $16 national park fee paid in cash)
visited: khai island, phi phi island, viking cave, pileh lagoon, maya bay, monkey bay, maiton island
tips:
- even if you are not going to go down in the water, its best to bring a towel as you might get splashed during the boat ride. some beaches require u to walk through knee length depth of seawater when alighting the boat, so wear shorts and suitable footwear
- popular spots like maya bay have long queue for toilets. cleanliness wise, i would recommend the one on phi phi island itself near the restaurants! for some islands u need to pay to use the toilet. my boat had one toilet but there's no sink for u to wash ur hands so maybe bring hand sanitiser
- khai island is a major tourist trap, they sell overpriced food and drinks but buying them also gets u a seat under the shade HAHAHA we paid $12 for one coconut juice and nutella pancake 😭
- our package included a van pickup and drop off directly from / to our hotel, which i think is rly convenient. before booking u can check if ur hotel location requires extra charges for pickup

Island hopping around Phuket offers an incredible adventure, allowing you to explore the crystal-clear waters and stunning scenery of islands such as Phi Phi, Khai, and Maiton. For first-timers, it's important to plan ahead and know what to expect during your day trips. When booking your trip, consider packages like the Phuket: Phi Phi Islands Full Day Trip by Speed Catamaran, which often includes convenient hotel transfers and visits to multiple islands including Viking Cave and Pileh Lagoon. Pricing typically ranges around $100 per person, including national park fees, but always check for any additional costs such as extra van charges depending on your hotel location. Practical tips can enhance your experience: marine footwear or easy-to-remove sandals are helpful since some islands require wading through shallow water when boarding or disembarking boats. Bring a towel to stay comfortable, as splashes during boat rides can leave you wet. For hygiene, hand sanitizer is a must, especially as some island toilets may require fees and might lack sinks. While enjoying popular spots like Maya Bay, be prepared for long queues at facilities; the restrooms near Phi Phi Island's restaurants tend to be cleaner and more accessible. Beware of tourist traps like Khai Island, where food and drink prices are significantly marked up, but purchasing something may be necessary to secure shaded seating. Island hopping also offers opportunities to witness unique attractions; Viking Cave is notable for its historical significance and bird nests, while Maiton Private Island provides a more secluded experience. Always respect local regulations and natural environments to help preserve these beautiful destinations. By considering these insights and choosing a well-reviewed tour operator, your island hopping adventure in Phuket will be comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable. Make sure to pack wisely, stay hydrated, and capture amazing photos of Thailand’s unrivaled island paradise.
