Hey everyone! I just had to share my recent discovery – or rediscovery, rather – of the incredible Dunbar Esplanade. You know those places that just feel right? That's exactly how I feel about this coastal gem. I’ve always loved a good walk by the sea, and Dunbar Esplanade absolutely delivers. Honestly, if you're ever in the area, or even planning a day trip, you have to put this on your list. It's not just a path; it's an experience. Picture this: the salty breeze in your hair, the sound of waves crashing gently against the shore, and panoramic views stretching out across the Firth of Forth. It's truly breathtaking, whether the sun is shining or there's a dramatic sky overhead. What I love most about the Esplanade is how versatile it is. I went for a long, reflective walk one morning, and it was so peaceful. You can really clear your head out here. Then, later in the day, I saw families picnicking, kids running around, and even some brave souls taking a dip in the sea. It caters to everyone! There are plenty of benches dotted along the route, perfect for just sitting and soaking in the views, maybe with a coffee from one of the nearby cafes. Speaking of cafes, one of my top tips is to grab a warm drink or an ice cream (depending on the weather!) and enjoy it as you stroll. There are a few lovely spots just a short walk from the Esplanade where you can fuel up. I found a charming little bakery that had the most delicious pastries – a perfect treat after all that fresh air! For those who love photography, like me, you'll be in heaven. The changing light, the stunning coastline, the historic buildings nearby – there are endless opportunities for some truly Instagrammable shots. I managed to capture a particularly gorgeous sunset over the water that I'm still buzzing about. The pathway itself is really well-maintained, smooth enough for prams and wheelchairs, which is fantastic. It means everyone can enjoy this beautiful stretch of coastline. You can easily spend an hour or two just walking back and forth, or if you're feeling more adventurous, you can extend your walk to explore more of Dunbar's charming town centre or even head towards the harbour. Don't forget to look out for the local wildlife! I spotted a few different seabirds, and if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of seals basking on the rocks further out. It really adds to the natural beauty of the place. So, if you're looking for a relaxing escape, a beautiful walk, or just a place to enjoy some incredible coastal scenery, do yourself a favor and visit Dunbar Esplanade. It's a truly special spot that I can’t wait to go back to. Let me know if you've been, or if you plan to go!

Paul Laurence Dunbar
February 9 marks the death of Paul Laurence Dunbar who passed away in 1906 at just 33 years old. In that short span of time, Dunbar reshaped American literature in ways people still don’t fully give him credit for. He wrote poetry, novels, short stories, and lyrics with a command of language that m
