What I’ve Read in the Beginning of the Year ✨📚

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams: omg I wish I could experience reading this book for the first time again 🥹 this actually put me in a reading slump because it was so good.

Zikora by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: this short story got me out of my reading slump, really relatable to some mothers.

Hold Me While You Wait by Kimberly Brown: ughhh this book holds a special place in my heart.

Forever by Judy Blume : I only read this because of the Netflix series and I wouldn’t recommend at all, if I could get my money back I would.

Demon’s Dream:An Unexpected Love by Elle Kayson : a great read, I actually made my mom read it because it was so good. We need a second book asap!

Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan: a great book a little triggering for me personally but a great book overall.

Twenty-Four Seconds from Now… A LOVE Story by Jason Reynolds: this book was cute I laughed and that’s why I gave it 4 stars.

Of course if you seen my last post I LOVED reading the Delgato Series, and currently reading King Inferno series. If you’re on good reads add me ! 🤍📚

... Read moreStarting a new year with a fresh reading list can be both exciting and motivating. Many avid readers set yearly challenges to push themselves beyond comfort zones and discover diverse authors and genres. The 2025 Reading Challenge, with an ambitious goal of 30 books, reflects a well-planned commitment to consistent reading, and being four books ahead at this point is impressive. Tracking progress matters; it encourages readers to stay engaged and make room for quality over quantity. One notable theme from early 2025 reads is the emotional impact of stories. Books like "Seven Days in June" by Tia Williams earned high praise for their immersive and heartfelt narrative, even causing a reading slump once finished due to how deeply engaging the story was. On the flip side, "Zikora" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie helped break that slump, particularly resonating with mothers, which highlights how relatable content can revive reading enthusiasm. The mix of recommended and non-recommended books also shows how subjective book experiences can be. For example, "Forever" by Judy Blume, tied to the Netflix series, did not meet expectations and serves as a cautionary point about adapting books to other media. Conversely, "Demon’s Dream: An Unexpected Love" by Elle Kayson impressed enough to be recommended to family members, reflecting the power of shared reading experiences. Personal reactions to books like "Hook Shot" by Kennedy Ryan bring to light why trigger warnings are crucial for sensitive readers, emphasizing that a great book's value can vary individually. Meanwhile, fun and lighthearted reads such as Jason Reynolds’ "Twenty-Four Seconds from Now… A LOVE Story" provide moments of joy and laughter that balance more intense narratives. Engaging with platforms like Goodreads and Kindle Unlimited expands access to diverse books and communities, enriching the reader’s journey. Users participating in the #yearlyreadinggoals and #kindleunlimitedrecs hashtags can find recommendations and support, making the reading experience social and continuously refreshed. In conclusion, 2025’s early reading achievements and varied book reviews provide inspiration for readers aiming to meet their own goals. Tracking book counts, sharing thoughtful reviews, and connecting with reading communities are key elements to sustaining a fulfilling literary year ahead.
