This year, we really outdid ourselves with Ziggy's dog costume! You know how much I love finding unique ideas, and for the Tompkins Square Park Dog Parade, we decided to go with something truly iconic. It took a few evenings of crafting, but seeing Ziggy strut his stuff made every stitch worth it. We wanted to incorporate something unexpected, and that's where the idea of the miniature KEURIG machine came in – yes, a tiny, dog-friendly version! It added such a fun, quirky touch to his whole ensemble, and everyone got a kick out of it. The atmosphere at the Tompkins Square Park Dog Parade is always electric. It's truly one of my favorite Halloween events in NYC! There are so many incredibly creative dog costumes, from pop culture references to elaborate historical figures, and the sheer joy on everyone's faces – both human and canine – is contagious. Watching all the pups and their humans interacting, sharing smiles, and getting their photos taken is just pure happiness. Ziggy, of course, absolutely loved all the attention. He's such a natural performer, and he really plays up for the camera when he knows he looks good! He thrives on the energy of the crowd and all the positive feedback he gets for his outfits. One of the best parts about creating Ziggy's costumes is seeing his reaction. He seems to sense when something special is happening, and he gets so excited for the parade. We always do a few 'dress rehearsals' at home to make sure he's comfortable, and this year, he took to his KEURIG-themed outfit like a pro. It wasn't just about the costume; it was about celebrating the spirit of Halloween and community. If you're thinking about entering your pup next year, my top tip is to start planning early and always prioritize your dog's comfort over elaborate designs. Simple can be just as impactful, as long as your dog is happy and having fun! It's always a highlight of our autumn, and seeing everyone's reactions to Ziggy's latest creation is the icing on the cake. We love seeing what other creative dog parents come up with too – it's inspiring! What kind of costumes did your pets wear this year, or what are your dream dog costume ideas? I'd love to hear them! This parade truly captures the heart of New York's dog-loving community, and we can't wait to see what next year brings for Ziggy's next big reveal!
