Outgrowing Relationships_ Love IS an ADDICTION! #chd #callherdaddy #callherdaddypodcast #alexcooper #tanamongeau
Reflecting on my own experiences, I’ve come to see that love often feels like a roller coaster—full of thrilling highs and crushing lows. This unpredictability can mirror addictive behaviors, where the emotional rush keeps us coming back despite the pain. Recognizing this cycle is crucial to outgrowing relationships that no longer serve us. Many of us carry beliefs about love shaped by our childhoods, sometimes unconsciously tolerating unhealthy patterns because we equate love with turmoil or intensity. I found that when I understood love as more than just intense emotions—that it could also be stable, respectful, and supportive—I was able to move toward relationships that promoted my growth rather than my pain. This awareness also made me realize that detaching from toxic love isn’t about resentment or blame but about self-care and healing. Outgrowing past relationships allowed me to build a beautiful life focused on my well-being and happiness. I encourage anyone struggling with this to remember that it’s okay to change and grow out of what no longer fits. Love should uplift and nurture, not deplete or control. By viewing love through this lens—as something that can be addictive but also conquerable—we empower ourselves to break free from old cycles and create healthier connections. It's a process that takes time and compassion, but the freedom and joy that come with it are deeply rewarding.
