Leaking Cups & Empty Wells

people don’t talk to connect.

They talk to collect.

I used to think every conversation was sacred.

Now I know some cups leak,

and some wells were never meant to be trusted with your water.

This isn’t bitterness.

It’s clarity.

I don’t pour less love into the world.

I just pour it where it can grow back.

Not everyone who listens is a well.

Not everyone who speaks is a partner.

And I’m no longer afraid to walk toward

places where water already exists.

Leaking Cups & Empty Wells.

Not a complaint.

A boundary with a heartbeat. 🐉

... Read moreIn today's world, conversations often serve purposes beyond connection; they can feel more like data collection or emotional transactions. This metaphor of 'Leaking Cups & Empty Wells' beautifully captures the experience of engaging with people who do not reciprocate emotional support or trust. From personal experience, I've learned that not every interaction replenishes us, and sometimes, continuing to pour our energy into certain relationships only leads to exhaustion. Recognizing when a 'cup leaks' means acknowledging that our efforts to communicate or connect might be wasted if the listener isn’t truly present or trustworthy. Similarly, 'empty wells' symbolize relationships that lack depth or reliability—sources that cannot sustain us emotionally. It took me some time to understand that withdrawing love or attention from these spots isn’t bitterness but rather a necessary step toward self-care and clarity. This approach has transformed how I engage with others: instead of fearing loneliness or misunderstanding, I now prioritize places where emotional water—the love, understanding, and support—already exists. By setting such boundaries, I protect my emotional resources and cultivate healthier connections where love can truly flourish. Moreover, this practice has reinforced my emotional intelligence, helping me discern who truly listens and empathizes versus who collects information without genuine care. It has also deepened my consciousness about the quality of interactions I allow into my life. Overall, embracing these boundaries has been an empowering journey toward emotional healing, self-respect, and meaningful relationships that nourish our well-being rather than deplete it.
