Not sure which skincare product goes first? 🌸

Buying the products is the fun part, but applying them in the wrong order can actually make them useless!

As a general rule, we always go from thinnest consistency (watery toners) to thickest consistency (creams and oils).

Here is the cheat sheet for your AM vs PM routine:

☀️ Morning (Protection Focus)

1. Rinse: Skip the cleanser if you have dry skin! Water is enough.

2. Vitamin C: Always goes on clean, dry skin to fight free radicals.

3. SPF: The non-negotiable final step.

🌙 Evening (Repair Focus)

1. Double Cleanse: You must remove that SPF and makeup.

2. Actives (Retinol): Apply these before your heavy creams so they can penetrate.

3. Oil: The final seal to lock in all that hydration overnight.

Which step do you usually forget?

... Read moreWhen it comes to skincare, the order of product application truly matters, as it can significantly impact how well your skin absorbs and benefits from each product. From my own experience, following the 'thinnest to thickest' rule is a game-changer. For instance, watery toners like the Abib Heartleaf calming toner, filled with soothing ingredients such as glycerin and centella asiatica extract, should be applied right after rinsing to prep the skin. In the morning, my routine always starts with just a rinse if my skin feels dry—this simple step helps maintain essential moisture without stripping the skin. Then, I apply vitamin C serum on clean, dry skin to fight against free radicals and brighten my complexion. A consistent final step is applying a broad-spectrum SPF, such as a sunscreen with a glowy finish, which protects the skin from UV damage and prolongs the benefits of active ingredients. Evenings are different. After a double cleanse, especially if I've been wearing sunscreen and makeup, I use toner again to balance skin pH and hydrate. Peptide serums, like those containing matrixyl or argireline, go on next to support skin firmness and combat fine lines. Retinol is a key part of my night routine, applied before creams and oils; it promotes skin renewal but needs a gentle moisturizer and oils like rosehip oil to seal in hydration and minimize irritation. An important tip I learned is to listen to your skin's needs: for dry skin, skipping harsh cleansers in the morning may help; for sensitive skin, starting retinol gradually can prevent redness. Also, eye creams applied after serums help target localized concerns like dark circles or puffiness. Remember, consistency and patience are essential — the right order paired with products suited to your skin type can enhance your overall complexion and protect the skin barrier effectively. What’s your most forgotten step in your routine?
