Hotel security leader who tried to break into DJ's room in Phuket has been arrested

Police arrested a man who tried to get into the hotel room where a Thai woman, Mirinda Malinrattanawadee, was staying on Phuket Island at night. They were shocked that the man was the leader of the hotel security team.

DJ Mirinda was in Phuket for the EDC music event in Phuket. At about 10 pm last Friday (January 16, 2026), DJ Mirinda was resting in the hotel room without going to an EDC event because he was ill.

At this time, I heard a call from the front door of my room saying "hey." The DJ woman didn't say anything because she was suspicious and put a jacket on the door. Then a short time later, she said that her hotel room door was Bell Tate again.

She took a video on the phone and asked, "Who is it?" but there was no answer from the outside. After a while, the person who was outside tried to open the door. But DJ Mirinda said she couldn't open it only because she had a jack on the door from the inside.

DJ Mirinda reported the incident to the hotel staff, saying that a staff member had watched CCTV and that the records were missing from that time. Speaking to responsibly resolve the incident now, he responded: "Come only when the hotel manager is there the next day."

DJ Mirinda then opened the case at Cherng Talay police station and said she checked-out from the hotel. The videos she posted on social media also went viral.

According to the police investigation, the man who tried to enter the hotel room was a 39-year-old veteran named Kanisorn, who was the head of the hotel's security team.

He said he had been in the hotel since 4pm that day, but he had not returned home. According to CCTV footage which can be retrieved, Kanisorn, who was wearing a T-shirt and shorts and wearing flip-flops, was seen trying to open some rooms.

It was Kanisorn who eventually tried to open the room of DJ Mirinda with the master key used by the hotel room cleaning staff.

Sheriff's officials say he ran out of this room in front of him when his actions were recovered and he deleted the CCTV footage himself.

At present, the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach hotel has issued a formal apology for the incident and said that the employee has also been fired.

They also promised to tighten hotel security. But netizens are criticizing the hotel's security system and the fact that it can take master key easily.

Kanisorn has been charged with attempting to invade other people's rooms at night and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison or a fine of 100,000 baht.# phuket
