Seven Thai provinces, including Bangkok, have been warned of high tides and possible flooding between January 31 and February 4.
Thailand's National Water Resources Office (ONWR) has warned people living on low-lying river banks to be prepared for the high-tide situation from 31 January to 4 February 2026, which could lead to higher water levels being waterlogged by the speed of the north-east monsoon.
According to ONWR, there is a risk of riverbed flooding as tidal and monsoon levels in the rocky, tharqin and meklong rivers may rise above normal. Especially with communities outside the dam where there is no permanent dam and the prize services will not appear.
"In addition, because of the rising sea levels, salt water may enter the river to the right, affecting the household water quality and agricultural industries. Possibly dangerous Bangkok, Smart Prakan, Nuntraburi, Thames Taxun Pa and the Smithsonian region have been prepared."
Residents of low-lying areas are advised to evacuate materials at a high point and monitor ONWR's statements through the Thai Water app
They are also urged to inform officials if the dams are damaged, to keep water stored and to avoid possible flooding channels during high tides as water tastes can change when the salt water enters.
