Dan Nok Border Economic Zone in Sadao District, Songkhla District is facing an economic crisis due to a significant reduction in tourist arrivals and many enterprises are closed.
Local entrepreneurs say tourist arrivals in the once extremely crowded Dan Nok border region have now dropped to about 90 percent. The situation has left hotels, restaurants and entertainment industries with no income and is gradually closing, so the city is uninhabited.
The reduction in tourists, especially from Malaysia, is a major reason, and this situation is directly affecting the employment opportunities of workers working in the services sector in the area. Many business owners have been forced to continue, which is increasingly difficult.
