Big businesses have collapsed in Thailand and company closures have escalated!!!
More than 7,000 Thai businesses closed in the first half of 2026
In the second half of the year, experts are warning that it could face even more serious closure.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the Department of Economic Development (DBD), 7,024 enterprises were officially closed in the first 6 months of 2026, which is a rise of 12.49% compared with the list of the past year.
But the most worrying figure is that the total registration capital of the enterprises reached 98.86 billion baht, a surprising blow to 223.66%.
This rise shows that the economic pressure has reached not only the vulnerable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), but also the major companies that say financial strength is strong.

In the industries where large amounts of capital are spent, this economic downturn is being felt the worst, and "construction, real estate, electrical equipment installation and advertising activities" have been listed as the largest shutdowns.
According to the DBD, there are 4 major obstacles that are stressing the entire business community.
Domestic consumption in decline
Profitability is being seriously affected by the high energy costs, the price of raw materials increased, the cost of renting and paying off debt has been accelerated machine, and consumers' purchasing power has not recovered uniformly.
The instability of world trade
We are challenging the logistics chains of the industries, particularly vehicle manufacturing, electronics, rubber and refurbished agricultural products industries, whose trade policies are difficult to predict, and which are mainly dependent on exports because of protection taxes.
A recovery of gaps in the form of K-Shaped
While the investments of big technology companies in data centres, AI technology and clean energy have opened the way for exclusively specialized contractors, regular SMEs enterprises cannot enter this market and are fragmented under the fierce competition of overseas digital platforms.

จากประสบการณ์ของผมในการติดตามสถานการณ์ธุรกิจในประเทศไทย พบว่าปัญหาการปิดกิจการของธุรกิจทั้งขนาดกลางและใหญ่ในปี 2026 มีสาเหตุหลักจากหลายปัจจัยเชิงโครงสร้างและเศรษฐกิจที่ซับซ้อน หนึ่งในปัจจัยที่สำคัญคือราคาต้นทุนวัตถุดิบและพลังงานที่ปรับตัวสูงขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยเฉพาะในอุตสาหกรรมที่ใช้พลังงานและวัตถุดิบจำนวนมาก เช่น สาขาการก่อสร้างและอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ส่งผลให้กำไรของธุรกิจเหล่านี้ย่ำแย่ลงอย่างมาก นอกจากนี้ ค่าใช้จ่ายด้านที่อยู่อาศัยและหนี้สินส่วนบุคคลที่เพิ่มขึ้น ทำให้ผู้บริโภคลดการจับจ่าย ใช้จ่ายอย่างระมัดระวัง ส่งผลกระทบโดยตรงต่อธุรกิจค้าปลีกและบริการ การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางนโยบายการค้าระหว่างประเทศ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งนโยบายของสหรัฐอเมริกา ในการใช้มาตรการทางภาษีและข้อจำกัดการนำเข้าส่งออก ก็เป็นปัจจัยทำให้ธุรกิจส่งออก ต้องเผชิญกับความไม่แน่นอนและต้นทุนที่เพิ่มขึ้น โดยเฉพาะอุตสาหกรรมผลิตรถยนต์ อิเล็กทรอนิกส์ และเกษตรกรรมที่พึ่งพิงตลาดส่งออก นอกจากนี้ การพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆ อย่างเช่น ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI) เทคโนโลยีด้านข้อมูล และพลังงานสะอาด ได้สร้างความแตกต่างในการแข่งขันสูงขึ้น บริษัทเทคโนโลยีใหญ่ๆ ที่มีความพร้อมทางการเงินและเทคโนโลยีได้ขยายตลาดได้อย่างรวดเร็ว แต่ธุรกิจ SME หลายแห่งยังไม่สามารถปรับตัวเข้าสู่ตลาดดิจิทัลได้เต็มที่ ทำให้เกิดช่องว่างความเหลื่อมล้ำในสภาพเศรษฐกิจที่เรียกว่า K-shaped recovery จากข้อมูลนี้ ผมเชื่อว่าสำหรับผู้ที่กำลังดำเนินธุรกิจในไทยในสถานการณ์นี้ ควรให้ความสำคัญกับการปรับโครงสร้างต้นทุน เพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการบริหารจัดการ และเร่งพัฒนาดิจิทัลเทคโนโลยีเพื่อสร้างความสามารถในการแข่งขัน ขณะเดียวกัน รัฐควรสนับสนุนและส่งเสริมสินเชื่อสำหรับ SME ในภาวะที่ยังมีแรงกดดันทางเศรษฐกิจสูง เพื่อช่วยให้ธุรกิจเหล่านี้สามารถฟื้นฟูและอยู่รอดได้ในระยะยาว
