I've experimented a lot, and these are my personal go-to habits that have made a huge difference. First off, let's perfect that wash routine. You're already shampooing twice at the roots and conditioning the ends – brilliant! To level up, always make sure your shampoo and conditioner truly match your scalp and hair type. This is a game-changer! For shampoo, lukewarm water helps open the cuticle for a thorough cleanse. And yes, that final cold water rinse for your conditioner is fantastic for sealing the cuticle and boosting shine. When it comes to hair masks, using them before conditioner can be incredibly effective, especially if you have finer hair that gets weighed down easily. I love hydrating masks with ingredients like aloe vera or avocado for dry scalps, and for an oily scalp, I look for sebum-balancing ingredients like rosemary. Remember to really work that product into your hair, focusing on areas that need it most. Beyond wash day, daily habits are crucial. Scalp health is the foundation for hair growth! Daily mini scalp massages are great, but you can enhance them by incorporating nourishing oils like rosemary or castor oil a few times a week. These are known to stimulate follicles and promote thicker hair growth. If you have a dry scalp, warming up an oil like olive or coconut oil can work wonders, massaged in twice a week. For oily scalps, dry shampoo can be a lifesaver between washes to manage excess oil. Heat protection is non-negotiable, just like you said! Even if you're only blow-drying, a good heat protectant is essential. And here's a tip I learned: blow-drying on a low setting can actually be less damaging than air-drying because wet hair is more fragile. When brushing, always start from the tips and gently work your way up to avoid breakage. Also, don't sleep on wet hair – it's more prone to tangles and damage. Before washing, a quick brush can help detangle and prevent knots. For added nourishment, weekly oil treatments can be incredibly beneficial.
