You get intimate glimpses into the lives and hearts of so many incredible individuals, sharing their truths about what love means to them. Speaking of incredible individuals, the foreword by John Legend immediately sets a powerful tone. As I mentioned, his letter to Chrissy Teigen is incredibly moving, and it's just one example of the raw honesty you'll find throughout. It really makes you reflect on your own relationships and the different ways love manifests. What I appreciate most about Cole Brown and Natalie Johnson's curation is how they've managed to bring together such a rich tapestry of narratives. If you're looking for a book that offers both comfort and profound insight, especially during Black History Month, this is it. I’ve found that reading just one or two letters a day, as I've been doing, allows me to truly savor each message and reflect on its meaning. Some letters are joyful, some are poignant, and some will absolutely make you 'ball your eyes out,' as I experienced! It's a perfect book to discuss with friends or family too. Each letter sparks conversation about resilience, connection, and the enduring power of love in all its forms within the Black community. It’s a celebration, a reflection, and a guide. Honestly, I'm already thinking about who I can gift this to. It’s more than a book; it’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
