1996 F250, 7.3L…aka, dream truck

My dreammmmm truck is a reality after 10+ years of wanting one. My highschool self is screaming.

But, as an adult, it’s not all it’s chocked up to be. Having a project truck, let alone a diesel, is expensive as all hell.

Here’s what’s been done so far:

🌲made the headliner pretty with flowers

🌲replaced injector o-rings and valve cover gasket just to find out she still runs like dog-crap

🌲bought all new body panels to make her rust free

🌲bought a rust free bed

🌲cried a ton

🌲tested out 3 paint colors

🌲decided on a color and changed my mind

🌲cried some more

🌲tested out another paint color and fell in love

🌲had multiple dreams at night about me making turbo noises in my truck and cruising around in her

🌲talked about my truck farrrr too much

It ain’t easy but I’m so stoked for this old gal to be done. After-all, she is a dream come true…almost.

... Read moreRestoring a classic truck like the 1996 Ford F250, especially with a powerful 7.3L diesel engine, is a rewarding but challenging journey. These trucks are beloved for their durability and performance, making them a popular choice among enthusiasts. When taking on such a project, it's crucial to understand that costs can escalate quickly; parts and labor for diesel engines tend to be pricier than their gasoline counterparts. Essential upgrades often include replacing the injectors and gaskets, ensuring the engine runs smoothly, and addressing any rust issues with new body panels. Many owners opt for aesthetic changes as well, like custom paint jobs, which can be both fun and frustrating during the decision process. However, the joy of finally seeing your hard work come to fruition and the satisfaction of driving your fully restored truck on the road are irreplaceable experiences. For those embarking on similar projects, consider joining online forums or local truck communities to share insights and experiences. Engaging with fellow enthusiasts, whether online or in-person, can provide valuable support and knowledge, making the restoration journey even more enjoyable.
