Hey everyone! I'm so excited to finally share my deep dive into Ryan Trahan’s much-talked-about Joyride candy line. Like many of you, I've been super curious about these 'Uncommon Candies' that promise less sugar, no junk, and amazing taste, all while being plant-based. After trying several flavors, I'm ready to give you my full, honest take – including which ones are absolute must-tries and which might be better left on the shelf! First off, the whole concept behind Joyride is fantastic. It's great to see a brand, especially one backed by Ryan Trahan, focusing on healthier alternatives without sacrificing flavor. Every package boasts 'Less Sugar* *Than leading brand,' 'No Junk,' and 'Plant-Based Candy,' which definitely makes you feel a little less guilty indulging. The packaging itself is bright and eye-catching, truly embodying the 'Uncommon Candy' vibe. Let's talk flavors, because this is where the real fun begins! Joyride Cherry Ropes & Sour Strawberry Ropes (My Rating: 9/10): These were instant hits for me! The Cherry Ropes had that classic, juicy cherry flavor, and the Strawberry Ropes were equally delightful. Both feature a soft, chewy texture that’s incredibly satisfying. The OCR noted that many, including myself, wished the white filling was 'a little more tart' to really amp up that sour kick, but even without it, they are incredibly good. They truly live up to the '70% NATURALLY FLAVORED' claim. Joyride Berry Ropes (My Rating: 9/10): Similar to the Cherry and Strawberry, these were fantastic. The Berry Ropes brought a mixed fruit flavor that was hard to resist. Again, the 'wish the white filling was a little more tart' note applies here, but they are still a strong contender for my favorites thanks to their 'Amazing Taste.' Joyride Watermelon Wedges (My Rating: 9.5/10): Oh. My. Goodness. The Watermelon Wedges were a standout for me! The flavor was spot on – sweet, refreshing, and genuinely tasted like juicy watermelon. My only minor critique, echoing the OCR, is that I 'wish the texture was more gummy.' They are a bit softer than a traditional gummy, but the flavor alone makes them a winner. These are definitely '80% NATURALLY FLAVORED' to perfection. Joyride Sour Blue Raspberry Strips (My Rating: 8/10): These were good, but as the OCR also noted, 'not as good as the others' in my top tier. The sour blue raspberry flavor was classic and enjoyable, with a good balance of sweet and sour. The strips have a nice chew, and they are definitely worth trying if you're a fan of this particular flavor profile. Joyride Sour Pink Lemonade Strips (My Rating: 5/10): Okay, so this is where things took a bit of a turn for me. I genuinely wanted to like the Sour Pink Lemonade Strips, but as I ate more, I completely understood the OCR feedback that they started to 'taste like cleaning supplies.' It was a peculiar, almost chemical aftertaste that just didn't work for my palate. While they are '80% NATURALLY FLAVORED,' this particular combination just wasn't a hit for me. It’s a good reminder that not every flavor is for everyone, and it’s okay to have a least favorite! So, 'is Joyride good?' Absolutely, yes! Ryan Trahan has created a fantastic line of 'Uncommon Candy' that mostly delivers on its promises. While there might be a flavor or two that doesn't quite hit the mark for everyone (looking at you, Pink Lemonade!), the majority of these plant-based, less-sugar treats are delicious and provide a guilt-free way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Whether you're looking for 'Joyride ropes' or 'Joyride sour gummy worms' (the strips and wedges are their gummy-like offerings!), there's likely a flavor for you. I highly recommend picking some up and finding your own favorites. Remember to make yourself happy today, even if it's just with a sweet treat!
