Thinking about getting a Conch? Read this first.

In Janurary I decided to get a conch. It’s been about 4 months- here’s my experience!

The pain:

-6/10. Some people think it’s one of the most painful but to be honest I was so worried about getting pierced I was a bit distracted.

The healing:

-It takes about 1 year to heal before you can put a hoop in. For me the pain went away after a couple of days.

-use saline spray! I do it twice a day and use qtips. Make sure to spray the qtip and your ear before you clean it!

-DO NOT TOUCH IT! This is the hardest part for me. But it prevents the pericing from getting infected as well as keloids.

Jewelry:

-I originally went with a much larger piece but swapped it out for a daintier one for easier cleaning

-do not get pierced with a hoop- you’ll want to have a straight bar for proper healing

-make sure to side down the flat back after a month or so- it helps with healing!

-if you want to get a hoop make sure to ask your jeweler to pierce in a way that will look good with a hoop.

I absolutely love my conch- if you have any questions let me know! And tell me your experience with this piercing. Will you be getting one?#peircing #conch #conchpiercings #peircingadvice

... Read moreGetting a conch piercing can be a beautiful addition to your body art journey, but it's crucial to understand the process and aftercare involved. The pain level, as mentioned, can vary from person to person. Many find it to be manageable, often rated around 6/10. Healing time is a key factor; it typically takes about a year before you can comfortably switch to a hoop earring. During this time, regular saline spray cleaning helps maintain hygiene and reduces the risk of infection. It's also vital to resist the urge to touch the piercing—this helps prevent complications like keloids. When selecting jewelry, a straight bar is recommended for the healing phase, with some opting for daintier pieces to facilitate cleaning. If you're looking to wear a hoop in the future, consult your piercer for the best piercing technique that complements your desired jewelry. Engaging with the community about experiences and advice can also provide valuable insights. Overall, embrace your conch journey with knowledge and care.
