I am so scared of giving birth

I am now 19 weeks pregnant with my first baby. he's kicking more and more which is so lovely but now my fear of birth has really kicked in.

I am petrified of the pain but I think actually more of how much it's going to mutilate my body. I know that it is a small price to pay for the safe delivery of my son but I just can't get over the intense gut wrenching fear of what will happen to my body and how I may never be the same again.

All of the stories of tearing up to the clitorus and pelvic prolapses and anal prolapses and being "wrecked". I know it sounds shallow, but I have really struggled with all of the changes my body has gone through and it has taken a real toll on me mentally and now the birth and the aftermath of it is something I'm losing sleep over.

I have also considered asking for a c section but I know that will be frowned upon as its opting for potentially unnecessary major abdominal surgery. I just don't know how to not freak out about whats coming. Was anyone else in a similar position?

... Read morePregnancy can evoke a myriad of emotions, particularly fear surrounding childbirth. Many expectant mothers, like yourself, experience anxiety about pain and body changes. Understanding that this fear is normal can be comforting. It's important to seek support from partners, family, or community groups. Consider options like birth classes, where you can learn about various delivery methods and pain management techniques to ease your fears. Research shows that practicing relaxation techniques, such as prenatal yoga or meditation, can positively affect your mental state during pregnancy. Additionally, sharing your concerns with healthcare professionals can provide reassurance and suggest personalized coping strategies. Remember that each birth experience is unique, and it's okay to prioritize your well-being. Exploring options like a planned Cesarean section should be discussed with your doctor, as they can provide information on the risks and benefits. Reading about others' experiences with childbirth can also offer insights and alleviate fears. Connecting with a community of mothers through platforms like Lemon8 can bolster your support system and normalize your feelings of apprehension. Ultimately, remember that you are not alone in this journey and support is available throughout your pregnancy and beyond.

i honestly prefer labor and delivery than pregnancy, if i could have my second and just do the delivery and not be pregnant i would 😂 but i was scared too, it helps remembering that you don’t have a choice and they’re gonna come out on way or another 😂
