... Read moreWhen I first heard about prayer and vision boards, I admit I was a little skeptical. But creating my own has been such a transformative experience! It's not just a fun craft; it's a powerful tool for spiritual growth and visualizing your deepest desires. If you've been wondering how to make one or what to put on it, let me share my journey and some tips. What Exactly Are Prayer and Vision Boards? Think of it as a visual representation of your prayers, goals, and dreams. For me, it’s a dedicated space to "Know God more deeply and follow Him more closely," as well as to outline my personal aspirations. The 'vision' part helps me clarify what I want to achieve, while the 'prayer' aspect grounds it all in faith and trusts God's plan. It’s an inspiring reminder that "YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO SET ANOTHER GOAL OR TO DREAM A NEW DREAM." – C.S. Lewis. Why Should You Make One? Beyond being "seriously SO fun," as the original post mentions, these boards offer incredible benefits. They provide a daily visual cue for your intentions, helping you stay focused on "goals Inspiration" and "Dreams Inspiration." I've found it helps me cultivate a sense of "PEACE" and discover "BEAUTY IN THE HUMBLEST THINGS" in my everyday life. It's a fantastic way of "MAKING MEMORIES" even before they happen, by actively visualizing them. Getting Started: My Simple Steps Making a board is truly an enjoyable process. First, gather your supplies: a foam board or large piece of cardboard, scissors, glue sticks, and a stack of old magazines. Don't forget some praise or worship music to set the mood – it makes all the difference! Next, spend some time in prayer or quiet reflection. What are your heart's desires? What do you want to achieve or improve in your spiritual walk, relationships, health, or career this year? This is where you connect with the "Know God more deeply" aspect. Now for the fun part: flipping through magazines! Cut out words, phrases, and images that resonate with your goals and prayers. Don't censor yourself; if it speaks to you, clip it! I look for things that represent my aspirations for spiritual growth, peace, health, travel, and even small blessings. Ideas for Your Board – Making It Personal Spiritual Growth: Include Bible verses, images of worship, hands in prayer, or symbols of faith. This is key for the "prayer vision board" aspect. Personal Goals: Pictures of healthy food, exercise, books you want to read, or a dream vacation spot. Relationships: Photos representing strong family bonds or friendships. Words & Affirmations: Cut out powerful words like "Strength," "Peace," "Joy," "Faith," or "Abundance." The OCR also mentioned "GLOWING PRAISE," which could be a great addition. Specific Prayer Requests: You can even write out specific prayers or names of people you're praying for and attach them to the board. Beyond the Board: Creating Your 'Prayer Closet' Space For me, the board is just one part of a larger practice. I've dedicated a small corner in my room – my mini "prayer closet" – where I display my board. This helps me integrate my board into my daily prayer routine. I spend a few minutes each morning looking at it, praying over my intentions, and reflecting on how God is moving in my life. It’s a constant source of inspiration and a reminder to trust the process. This exploration made me more present in my everyday life, with an expectancy that great things would happen so I could record them. It’s truly a journey of faith, vision, and making those dreams a reality, one prayer and picture at a time.
