Welcome to our new loft in Oakland, CA! We’ve moved from 800 sq ft to a spacious 1,700 sq ft with big windows and industrial vibes. This space used to be a furniture showroom and then artists lofts – my older sister even lived here 7 years ago!
🖼️ We love a colorful, textured look and are planning a few zones:
- A welcoming entryway with shoe storage and a drop zone
- A wall inset storage for all our dog essentials
- A cozy reading nook with tall bookshelves, comfy chairs, and a record player
- A large bedroom that needs closet solutions
- My partner’s office/gaming zone with soundproofing
- A small but efficient bathroom with added storage
- A kitchen with an island, built-in bookshelf, and plans for a dining nook
- A living room space that needs to double as a guest bedroom

As we plan our design, we're focusing on functionality and aesthetics. One key area is the welcoming entryway, which should reflect our vibrant style while providing practical shoe storage. Similarly, the cozy reading nook will be a blend of comfort and utility, with bookshelves and a record player enhancing the room's ambiance. For the kitchen, we’re envisioning an island and dining nook, allowing for both cooking and socializing. Challenges like finding window coverings and maximizing closet space in the bedroom will be addressed through smart storage solutions. The living room is designed to be versatile, accommodating guests while remaining our everyday relaxation zone.
