Before & After; Bedroom Edition
We love a good before and after; especially when the before includes purple walls and red carpets (wasn't sad to see those go!)
Its amazing what a little paint, correct styling, and curtains can do to a space!
The master bedroom in the listing photo when we bought the house was quite scary. We didn't do a ton in this space to see this incredible transformation - here's what we did!
• We got rid of those purple walls immedietly. We painted the walls my favorite neutral color combo; Pale Oak with White Dove trim by Benjamin Moore
• Changed the bed positioning and put it under the two windows which made more sense for the flow of the room
• Had sconces installed to the side of the bed for a cozy vibe; these sconces are from Amazon
• Added roman shades and curtains, which really made the space just feel so much more cozy
• We ripped up the carpet and added an area rug with texture as well as added some greenery for that organic touch!
We love it in here now!

It's truly incredible how a bedroom transformation can completely change the feel of your home, and even your mood! When I first saw our master bedroom, with its jarring purple walls and dated red carpet, I knew we had to make a change. But beyond just aesthetics, I realized a serene bedroom is crucial for good sleep and relaxation, turning a house into a true home. My first step, and honestly the most impactful for any 'room makeover transformation', was the paint. We immediately ditched those purple walls! Opting for a neutral palette, we chose Benjamin Moore's Pale Oak for the walls and White Dove for the trim. These aren't just 'beige' – Pale Oak is this beautiful, warm off-white that shifts subtly with the light, while White Dove provides a crisp yet soft contrast. Painting the ceiling a complementary shade, as we eventually did, truly made the room feel taller and more cohesive. It was a game-changer, creating an instant sense of calm and opening up the space. This alone contributed massively to our 'before after' aesthetic. Next, we tackled the layout. Placing our bed under the two windows was initially a bit unconventional, but it truly made the room flow better. If you're considering a 'window behind bed' setup, think about your window treatments carefully. Our combination of Roman shades for privacy and light control, paired with flowing curtains, softened the hard lines and added a layer of texture, turning the windows into a feature rather than an obstacle. It completely transformed the 'before' bare windows into a cozy focal point, and it's a fantastic 'bed transformation idea' for tricky layouts. Lighting also played a huge role. Installing sconces on either side of the bed from Amazon wasn't just practical; it added a sophisticated, cozy glow that overhead lights simply can't achieve. This indirect lighting is perfect for unwinding in the evenings, setting a relaxing mood. For the floor, ripping up that old red carpet was liberating! We replaced it with a textural area rug – that 'new rug' instantly grounded the space and added warmth without the dated feel. Don't underestimate the power of textiles! Soft throw blankets and pillows can elevate your 'master bedroom styling' and make it incredibly inviting. And finally, a touch of greenery, like a snake plant or a small fig tree, brings life and an organic touch that completes the room's aesthetic. If you're embarking on a 'room remodel' or a 'small bedroom makeover,' remember these tips can be adapted. For smaller spaces, lighter paint colors are your best friend, and wall-mounted sconces save precious nightstand space. Consider multi-functional furniture and always start with a good declutter – a 'tidy bedroom before after' begins with getting rid of what you don't need! Creating a mood board or vision board is also super helpful for visualizing your goals and ensuring a cohesive aesthetic. It's amazing what a little planning and a few strategic changes can do to turn any bedroom into your personal dream oasis!
