2024 Engagement Photo Musts!
These are things that are so important to consider and share with your photographer before your engagement shoot! I include these all(and more) in my questionnaire to ensure you get the photos you are hoping for🤍 (number 5 is the most overlooked!)
1. Specific details- you have searched long and hard to find the outfit, shoes, accessories, etc. that you want to bring your vision to life. These pearl sleeves are a great example of a unique detail that from far away, won’t be as noticeable.
•
2. Posed vs Prompted- posed photos are typically stationary with small adjustments to ensure best angle, correct lighting, and so on. Prompted photos are the more candid, laughing, running through a field type of photos. Both are beautiful, and I highly suggest a combination of the two throughout the shoot, but if you are more drawn to one side of the spectrum, tell your photographer!
•
3. Artistic photos- motion blur, fractals, filmy edits…these are all unique photo techniques. If you love these, say so! If not, communicate that also!
•
4. Overall feel- think about how you want yourself, and anyone else, to feel when looking at these photos. Do you want the photos to feel classic? Fun and flirty? Deep and romantic? Trendy? Adventurous? The list goes on.
•
5. Specific dimensions- this is one that often gets overlooked! Many times, the couple uses a photo from their engagement shoot as a ‘Save The Date’. If you have a specific vision for what you want these to look like, communicate that! Do you want it to be portrait? Landscape? Do you want close up? Do you want a wide shot with scenery? Do you want black and white? Do you need space above your heads to put text? There are so many options and while photographers try to think of them all, it’s also nice to know ahead of time what the goal is!

6. Comfortability in front of the camera-this can be taken many ways. Whether you love or hate getting photos taken, if you are comfortable in what you are wearing, and the level of comfort you have together as a couple. Here are a few questions to consider: do you have any specific insecurities that you are afraid will show in the photos? Can you move freely in the outfits you will be wearing? Are you two comfortable sharing kisses in front of the camera?
