The last dinner from my 2 day staycation

I decided to staycation at a hotel for 2 days to relax and de-stress. I was most excited about getting room service from the hotel because it’s something I’ve never done, and I like the idea of having a nice hot meal without leaving my room.

Overall the meal was okay, mainly because the dessert was great; and you can never go wrong with fries. But I also got a flatbread pizza (not pictured) which was basically inedible. It was clearly frozen before and hadn’t been heated properly. This was definitely a let down.

I’m most excited about what this whole experience taught me though. When I decided to go on a staycation I was so stressed out, and barely indulged in less nutrient dense food. I would literally cry if I had too many carbs for the day. I think this was a signal to myself that I need days where I can indulge in food that’s actually good. These days if I’m eating less nutrient dense food it’s mainly because I’m broke and pasta is cheap. I need days where I have food that I truly enjoy.#eatingonvacation #Staycation #fries #RedVelvet

My last dinner featured crispy fries and classic red velvet dessert, emphasizing the joy of indulging in satisfying meals. While not every dish was a hit, the experience taught me the value of treating myself. It's essential to listen to what your body truly craves, especially when everyday meals are on the inexpensive side. Food should serve not just as sustenance, but as a source of joy. Including nutrient-dense options may contribute positively to mental well-being. For future staycations, exploring local dining options or ordering from nearby restaurants might elevate the experience, allowing for new culinary adventures. Furthermore, understanding the balance between budget-friendly meals and indulgence can lead to a more fulfilling relationship with food. Food should reflect personal enjoyment and emotional satisfaction, inspiring moments of joy even in the simplest of settings. So, whether it’s enjoying crispy fries or sharing a delicious dessert, make every meal a memorable one during your getaway.
