Monthly vet costs of a Cavalier 💸🩺

Owning a dog is the greatest thing! But the costs can sometimes add up. When it comes to keep my pup healthy there’s a lot of things I wasn’t prepared to pay for monthly.

🩺 Vet visits.

The vet is a regular place we visit! You’ll start off taking your pup in for puppy shots and getting them spayed/neutered. Then you’ll be going in yearly to update those vaccines and get a wellness check! That’s not all. Sometimes unexpected health problems arise that require a vet. Maples first unexpected visit was for an ear infection.

Annual visits include: Wellness exam: $60, bordetella shot: $40, lepto vaccine: $40 and heartworm test: $87. So unexpected visits for maple have totaled $220 in 2024 and $150 in 2022.

🪳Flea and tick meds

Flea and tick meds are required for dogs. Maple was recommended to use simparico trio by her vet and we’ve had no issues! She’s been taking it monthly since was a puppy to protect her from the bugs.

I purchased them from my vet for $30/ month.

💉Allergy shot

Maple has some seasonal allergies to outside allergens. She gets so itchy and will even chew at her paws and legs. We tried the pills but they didn’t work as well. The cytopoint shot helps her so much!

She gets her shot from the vet every other month for $90.

Many of these costs add up but if you are prepared then you don’t have to worry! Owning a pet is priceless. 🩷
