My Early Pregnancy Symptoms 🤰🏻

After having my second baby I can officially say the pregnancies were VERY different ✨

I’ve always known that every pregnancy would be different but experiencing it for myself was very exciting !!

Here are some of my personal experiences with early pregnancy symptoms with a baby girl & with a baby boy:

FATIGUE 💤

- oh my goodness the pregnancy fatigue is something else 😮‍💨 during my pregnancy with my son I was tired but it was not extreme & I was still able to work / be on the move through it unlike the pregnancy with my daughter where I experienced extreme fatigue, napped multiple times a day & could barely get out of bed 😴

NAUSEA 🤢

- this one was a big surprise for me! With my son I felt sick for about 2 weeks before it completely subsided. I felt nauseous & would vomit occasionally but it was gone as quickly as it came. On the other hand during the pregnancy with my daughter I was sick ALL. THE. TIME. For over 16 weeks I was nauseous all day every day and morning sickness was actually all day / multiple times a day sickness 😷

SENSITIVITY & BELLY POP

- i’m not sure if it makes a difference that it was my second pregnancy but with my first pregnancy (my son) one of my first symptoms was breast sensitivity while with my daughter I didn’t experience any sensitivity & much boobs didn’t grow in size until after birth 🤭

It’s so fun to look back and compare pregnancies. When they say every pregnancy is different they really mean it 🤰🏻✨

what was your pregnancy symptoms like? 🌿

... Read moreIt's truly wild how every pregnancy can be a completely different adventure, even for the same person! While I shared my personal comparison between my boy and girl pregnancies, there's so much more to those early weeks that can leave you wondering. I remember constantly googling every little twitch and feeling! One of the biggest questions I had, and I know many of you do too, is 'Is this PMS or early pregnancy?' It's so tricky because many early pregnancy symptoms, like fatigue, mood swings, and even slight cramping, can feel exactly like your period is on its way. For me, the nausea was a pretty strong giveaway in both pregnancies, but sometimes it started subtly. With my son, I barely had any, almost like I could dismiss it. With my daughter, it hit me like a truck! If you're charting, a sustained elevated basal body temperature after your period is due can be a strong hint. Otherwise, honestly, a pregnancy test is the most reliable way to tell the difference! Let's talk about something else often searched for: early pregnancy discharge. This can be a real head-scratcher! You might notice an increase in clear or milky white discharge (leukorrhea). This is usually normal and due to increased estrogen and blood flow to the vaginal area. It helps protect against infection. However, if you see any unusual colors like green, gray, or yellow, or if it has a strong odor, it's always best to check with your doctor. Sometimes, a little pink or brown spotting can occur around the time of implantation, which is often mistaken for a light period. It’s usually very light and short-lived. And what about cramps and stomach pain in early pregnancy? Yes, they can absolutely be a sign! I definitely experienced mild uterine cramping, especially around the time my period would have been due, and sometimes a bit later as my uterus started to stretch. It often feels like mild period cramps, not as intense. However, if you experience severe, one-sided pain, or pain accompanied by bleeding, it's crucial to seek medical advice immediately, just to rule out any complications. Regarding breast changes, oh my goodness, they can be so varied! With my son, I experienced significant breast and nipple sensitivity almost immediately, and my boobs grew significantly – I mean, like 'Boobs grew 3 sizes!' big! With my daughter, it was a completely different story; I barely noticed any changes or sensitivity until much later, even 'No change in size until after birth' for a while. So, if you're not feeling that typical tenderness, don't worry, it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Darkening nipples or prominent veins are also common early signs. Sometimes, symptoms can be so minimal or atypical that you might even wonder about a 'cryptic pregnancy.' While rare, some women don't realize they're pregnant until very late, precisely because their symptoms are so subtle or mistaken for other things. This just emphasizes how truly unique each body and each pregnancy journey can be. Don't stress too much comparing yourself to others – listen to your body, and if you have any doubts, a doctor's visit is always the best next step.
