WHAT TO AVOID ON YOUR PERIOD

Hey cuties!🫶🏼 first of all, i want to mention that menstruation is very normal for all of us. There’s nothing to be ashamed of and these are some of the things i don’t do when i’m on my period because i think it makes everything worse!

Firstly, try to avoid certain foods. I know it’s difficult because most of us are craving sweets and all the bad foods that are not good for us. But try to avoid sugar and salt and you’ll definitely see the difference! This one time i ate too much salty food and i felt horrible the next 3-4 hours.

Second, try to avoid excessive caffeine. I love coffee (especially iced) and whenever i get a chance i always drink it but it’s better to avoid when you’re on your period. Caffeine can constrict blood vessels and may lead to reduced blood flow to the uterus, potentially increasing menstrual cramps and discomfort. Also, high caffeine intake can disrupt sleep patterns, which may lead to fatigue and worsen overall discomfort during menstruation.

Third, poor hygiene. I know we all feel lazy and terrible when we’re on period but it’s ESSENTIAL to maintain your good hygiene! Menstrual blood provides a warm and moist environment, which can promote the growth of bacteria. Poor hygiene practices, such as not changing sanitary products regularly or not washing your genital area, can increase the risk of infections like urinary tract infections (UTIs) or bacterial vaginosis.

Fourth, ignoring severe pain and isolating yourself. Ignoring severe menstrual pain or unusual symptoms could prevent you from identifying and addressing underlying health issues that may require medical attention. Isolating yourself during your period can lead to feelings of loneliness, sadness, or anxiety, as you may miss out on social interactions and support. Sharing your experiences with trusted friends or family members can provide emotional support and understanding during your period.
