THINGS TO KNOW - before visiting Costa Rica🩵🌴

Costa Rica really surprised me and was one of my favorite places I’ve traveled to! I think without a doubt that you should make a visit to Costa Rica at least once in your life and when you do, hopefully this post can give you some helpful info!

1. Rent a 4x4 car!

If you are going to be renting a car in Costa Rican which I would 100% recommend as you’ll have more freedom to explore the country - then you will need a 4x4 car. Some areas will have steeper roads then others but it’s always good to have just in case you get in a bad situation with your car and need the 4x4 to get you out!

2. It’s priceyyy

While it is true that most South and Central American Countries are less expensive when traveling there, Costa Rica isn’t exactly on the list of most budget friendly countries. Of course you can make it has budget friendly as possible but the food, transportation, and accommodations there are all about the average American prices. (Ex. An ATV rental in Costa Rica is $80 a day😳)

3. Rainy season is still a good time to go!

Costa Rican weather is catagorized as two seasons - dry season(December to April) and rainy season(May through November). It’s common to hear people say that dry season is the only time people should travel to Costa Rica as it’s sunnier and a more enjoyable time of year to be there. But from personal experience, the rainy season isn’t that bad either as I had relatively good weather the whole two weeks I was there, there were less tourists, and prices weren’t as high!

Save this for your trip to Costa Rica 🥳

... Read moreWhen planning a trip to Costa Rica, it's crucial to consider the best times to visit, as this can significantly influence your adventure. Many travelers are drawn to Costa Rica for its lush wildlife and stunning nature, but timing your visit to avoid the rainy season can lead to a more enjoyable experience. Generally, the dry season runs from December to April, making it ideal for beach outings and hiking. However, don't underestimate the rainy season! It has its perks, such as fewer crowds and lower prices on accommodations and tours. The cost of living in Costa Rica can be a shock for first-time visitors. While it may be pricier than other Central American destinations, there are ways to manage your budget. Enjoy delicious local cuisine at sodas (small family-run restaurants), where you can savor traditional dishes at lower prices. Plus, planning outdoor activities like hiking in national parks can be an economical way to experience the beauty of the country. If you're renting a car, choosing a 4x4 is advisable due to the varying road conditions, especially if you're heading into more remote areas. This type of vehicle provides the flexibility you need to explore Costa Rica's diverse landscapes at your own pace. Additionally, consider booking accommodations in advance during peak travel seasons to secure the best deals. Reviews and recommendations from fellow travelers can also provide insights into where to stay and what to do, ensuring an unforgettable experience in the breathtaking beauty of Costa Rica.
