Oops, I did it again! I added another member!

Well, I got a wild ‘hare’ (see what I did there? 😉) to add another member to the mix! We now have dogs (who are more closely compared to our human children than your average dog), goats (17 and counting to be exact 😅), baby chicks (kinda.. they’re still incubating atm.. 🐣) and now a rabbit! I must say, this whole homesteading thing is even better than I dreamed it would be. Is it hard work? Definitely! Are there days I question my what I’m even doing this for and feel overwhelmed, run down and just flat ass over it all? Shhhoot, friend, You know it! But for every setback, heartbreak and tear shed there is double the smiles, the love and the pure joy that comes from being able to live this dream of mine out. Baking bread and tasty treats, raising babies and animals while loving on my Mr. is what I’m still here for 🖤

Without further ado, meet my new little boy

🐰 name: Lamont aka Monty 🖤

🐰 breed: Lionhead 🦁

🐰 age: 5 weeks 🍼

🐰 favorite snacks: cucumber, shredded carrots, spring mix salad as well as dehydrated banana, pineapple, papaya and peas. 😋

🐰 tricks: “come here, Monty” 🥹

The last pic is a rare stroke of genius from the brain of yours truly! Honestly, I may not have been the first to think of this but I have yet to see it anywhere and believe me I looked for days a litter box/suggestion for litter boxes. Then it hit me.. use a paint tray! It’s perfect! Deep end for the hay, shallow end for the “litter”. I truly impress myself sometimes 😂

Rabbits like Monty are not only adorable but can also provide companionship and help in garden maintenance by naturally nibbling on weeds. It's important to create a safe and loving environment for them. For first-time rabbit owners, understanding their dietary needs is crucial; they thrive on a diet consisting of hay, fresh vegetables, and a limited number of pellets. Additionally, providing mental stimulation through toys and interaction ensures they stay happy and healthy. This homesteading journey also teaches invaluable lessons about responsibility and the joy of nurturing living creatures. Just as I found a unique solution for Monty’s litter box using a paint tray, there are endless DIY projects to improve your homesteading experience. Innovative thinking not only saves money but also adds a personal touch to your animal care routines. Ultimately, each addition to your homestead, whether a rabbit, goat, or chicken, contributes to a fulfilling life surrounded by nature and animal companions.

Cute. But 5 week rabbit shouldn’t be weened yet (maybe u just guess his age or smt ) with that being said I would recommend not give fruits till he a year or so old. And I would personally suggest never giving carrots if u do VERY rarely Hope I could help :)
