VISION BOARD TUTORIAL
2024: my glow up year
Vision boards have been a thing for years, but how do we actually make one? Here is a step by step process 💫
🍓STEP 1: Write down your goals for this year. Be CLEAR and SPECIFIC about what your intentions and goals are for the new year. I divided it into 6 main categories in my life that I am actively focusing on this year. Let this be specific to you.
For example, I had: fitness, professional, travel, mental health, faith/ spirituality, and love.
This year I’d really like to travel to Italy so I printed photos of Italy 🇮🇹 and put them in my vision board.
I would recommend using the notes app in your phone or using pen/paper to write these down. Pick your main categories and write what you’d like to accomplish under each one. Remember, the more specific the better!
🍓STEP 2: Find pictures that capture your written goals. You can use any search engine, but I prefer to use Pinterest. I simply type something related to my goal and follow it up with the word ‘aesthetic’ to help find nicer pictures.
For example, I’m focused on transitioning back into the professional space, so I searched “professional women aesthetic”. You can be as specific or broad as you like as long as you find photos that match your vision. I created a board on Pinterest called “2024 vision board” and saved them there.
I recommend including quotes in your vision board to help center your intentions for the year.
🍓STEP 3: Find a local place to print your photos. I prefer printing 4x6’s at Walgreens Pharmacy. I printed 30 photos for $12, so about $.40/ photo. You can adjust the size to your liking. I prefer Walgreens because the photo kiosks are self service and you can pick the size, edit, and crop to your liking. Other options are Staples, Walmart, and Shutterfly (if you order ahead of time).
🍓STEP 4: Buy a board! I recommend a foam board because they are thick. Using regular cardboard paper can be too flimsy, so I recommend a foam board. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby for $5.99. They should also be available at Michaels, Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree, Staples, and Office Depot. Alternatively you can use a canvas if you prefer.
🍓STEP 5: Create your vision board. This is a fun independent activity, but I did it with a good friend. We put on vibes music, had snacks, and just had fun with it. The only supplies you need are the photos, glue sticks or tape, and scissors. Not all the photos will fit (unless you measure perfectly), so you can cut photos to your liking. The collage look makes it turn out even more aesthetic.
I hope this inspires you to make a 2024 vision board! Let me know if you try it out 💫
