Social Media VS REALITY

2024/12/7 Edited to

... Read moreWe've all been there: scrolling through our feeds, seeing picture-perfect lives, flawless faces, and dreamy aesthetics. It's easy to get caught up in the allure, feeling like everyone else has it all together. But lately, I've been thinking a lot about the huge gap between what we see on social media and what reality truly looks like. It’s exactly like the original post said: "When they sell the dream, but reality says otherwise. 🛍️✨ vs 🫠" And honestly, I feel it almost daily! Take 'beauty' for example. My feed is constantly filled with people who seem to wake up with perfect hair and glowing skin. They have these elaborate skincare routines that promise miracles. But my reality? It's often messy hair, a struggle with breakouts, and definitely no Instagram-ready morning routine. The filters and editing tools available today are incredible, but they also create an almost impossible standard. The 'VS' here is huge – idealized beauty often stands in stark contrast to our everyday selves. It makes me wonder, how much of what we consume online is truly unfiltered? It’s not just about beauty, either. Think about lifestyle. We see perfectly organized homes, gourmet meals prepared with ease, and exotic vacations. I remember seeing a viral #walmartfinds post once, showcasing this incredible home decor item that looked high-end. I rushed to get it, only to find it looked completely different in my living room – the lighting was off, the texture wasn't as luxurious, and it just didn't have that 'aesthetic' vibe. It instantly reminded me that what looks amazing in a curated photo might not translate to your actual space. The dream sold online often doesn't match the reality of everyday life, and that's okay. This constant comparison isn't healthy. It's easy to fall into the trap of feeling inadequate, like you're not doing enough, or that your life isn't as exciting or beautiful as others'. I’ve definitely had moments where I felt down just from scrolling. That's why I've started actively trying to seek out more authentic content and remind myself that everyone has their own struggles, even if they don't post about them. What we see online is often just a highlight reel, or even a completely manufactured fantasy. It's the ultimate 'social media vs reality' paradox. My advice? Embrace your own reality. Find joy in the imperfect moments. Celebrate your small wins and unique experiences. Curate your feed to follow accounts that inspire you to be *you*, rather than making you feel less than. Let's champion the 'unfiltered' and celebrate genuine experiences over manufactured dreams. Remember, your real life, with all its imperfections, is always more valuable and authentic than any perfectly posed picture.

Social Media Vs. Reality
✅Social media can make it hard for us to see the true reality of life. For me, I love to travel and sometimes it’s easy to visit a place and realize it’s nothing like a photo I’ve seen. I find it important to show both the good and bad! 📷 My husband is a photographer. Whenever he edits photos h

Inspo: @Andy_valenzuela Hi everyone! I saw this trend and I knew I had to participate! I have struggled with comparison via social media in the past and while I still struggle some days I have learned that 99% of what you see on social media is fake. I know it may seem like everyone is happy

I try to post reality. Photoshopping, filters, posing, it’s just not me. But I still edit photos to try to make them look a little better. And sometimes, I’ve been known to erase an object from a photo, like this outlet. Believe it or not, erasing the outlet was actually done with the markup feat

Not everyone is rich. Not everyone is healed. Not everyone is living their dream life. Some people are just really good at curating. And that’s okay—but don’t compare your real life to someone else’s highlight reel. You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re just building—with no need

Social media is just a highlight reel for most people. It’s our best times and happy times we want to share! Yes sometimes people also share very real and raw moments but for the most part it’s the happy times. Don’t ever think that you have to compare your life to what you see in people’s posts. W
