book review + my tbr🩷

taming seraphine : i’m gonna start off by saying the book starts with 2 pages of trigger warnings so definitely read those before you start reading the book. this book was absolutely stunning, the writing was phenomenal, the book is about a young girl who had been imprisoned for 5 years and this guy finds her and it shares the story of what happens after that and you get both of their pov. definitely enjoyed this read!!

i inserted my tbr just so you guys have some options of books they may interest you, there mainly romance and dark romance books, but i’ll give you guys an updated version if i add books!

ALSO if you guys have any thriller/mystery recommendations comment what they are i wanna add some to my tbr!!

... Read moreHey bookworms! Let's chat more about some of the things that make our reading lives so exciting. First off, if you've ever seen 'TBR' floating around and wondered what it means, you're alone! 'TBR' simply stands for 'To Be Read.' It's essentially our ever-growing wishlist of books we plan to dive into next. Mine, as you saw, is packed with dark romance, but I'm always looking to diversify! Keeping a TBR list helps me organize my reading journey and makes sure I never run out of amazing stories. Now, let's circle back to 'Taming Seraphine' by Gigi Styx, which I just raved about. A lot of you might be wondering, 'Is Taming Seraphine a standalone?' From what I understand and how the story concludes, yes, it functions perfectly as a standalone novel. You get a complete and satisfying journey with the characters, so no need to worry about cliffhangers or having to wait for a sequel to get closure. This is great news for those who love to pick up a book and finish its entire story within one volume! Speaking of 'Taming Seraphine,' let's address the *spice*! As indicated by those fiery '5 chili peppers' on the cover (yes, the OCR picked that up perfectly!), this book definitely delivers on the heat. If you enjoy steamy, intense scenes that contribute to the emotional and physical development of the characters, you're in for a treat. The author doesn't shy away from mature themes, making it a true dark romance. However, and this is crucial, remember that the book starts with a significant list of trigger warnings. These are so important to read before you begin, as they cover potentially sensitive topics that are central to the plot. Always prioritize your comfort and well-being when choosing a read, especially in the dark romance genre where content can be very intense. It’s not just about the 'spicy chapters' but the overall emotional journey. The story itself, without giving too much away, revolves around a unique and compelling dynamic. The dual POV really allows you to get inside the heads of both the protagonist, who has endured immense hardship, and the male lead who finds her. The quotes I highlighted (and that were seen in the OCR!) truly capture the raw emotion and complex relationship development. For example, lines that delve into their intertwined past and uncertain future are incredibly impactful. It's not just a 'taming novel' in a simple sense; it's a deep exploration of recovery, connection, and finding light in darkness. Finally, for those looking to expand their own TBR, definitely explore different genres! While my current list leans heavily into romance and dark romance, I'm eager to add some thrilling mysteries. If you have any recommendations that keep you on the edge of your seat, please share them below! Creating a diverse TBR ensures you always have a book for every mood. Happy reading, everyone!
