🫶Some fun with Bastion🫶
Hey fellow Overwatch 2 enthusiasts! I recently had an absolute blast playing Bastion, and honestly, this character is still so much fun. I even snagged a 'Play of the Match' that day, which just reminded me how rewarding he can be when played right! I often see people asking, 'Is Bastion good in Overwatch 2?' and my answer is a resounding YES, if you know how to leverage his unique kit. He might not always be top-tier in every meta, but he brings incredible utility and damage output. For me, the key to enjoying Bastion and getting those epic plays often lies in mastering his Recon Mode. Diving Deep into Recon Mode Gameplay Many players only think of Bastion as a static turret, but his Recon Mode is where a lot of his strategic value comes from. I've found it's perfect for flanking, repositioning, and even securing eliminations when you need mobility. The rifle in Recon Mode is surprisingly accurate and does decent damage, making it great for poking at enemies or finishing off low-health targets. I love using it to apply pressure from a distance before I commit to a full Sentry transformation. Don't underestimate its burst potential, especially when paired with his A-36 Tactical Grenade! I've learned that a common mistake is staying in Sentry Mode for too long. If you're constantly transforming, you become an easy target. Instead, I try to spend a good chunk of my time in Recon Mode, moving with my team, looking for opportunities, and then quickly transforming into Sentry Mode for a burst of damage when enemies push or when I need to melt a tank. It’s all about timing and knowing when to surprise your opponents. Maximizing Bastion's Kit Beyond Recon Mode, don't forget his other abilities. The A-36 Tactical Grenade is fantastic for dislodging enemies from cover, finishing off low-health targets, or even dealing splash damage to groups. Practice bouncing it around corners – it’s super satisfying to get an unexpected kill with it! And of course, his ultimate, Configuration: Artillery, is a game-changer for zoning out enemies, securing objectives, or wiping out clustered teams. I usually save it for breaking through chokepoints or denying a push. My Personal Tips for Bastion Success: Positioning is Key: Whether in Recon or Sentry, always think about your escape route and cover. Bastion is a big target! Surprise Factor: Try to transform into Sentry Mode from an unexpected angle. Don't just sit on the payload in a straight line. Utilize Cover: In Recon Mode, use walls and obstacles to your advantage, peeking to shoot and ducking back. Target Prioritization: As Bastion, you're a tank-buster, but don't ignore squishy targets if they're exposed. Team Synergy: Communicate with your team! A good Orisa or Reinhardt shield can make all the difference when you're in Sentry Mode. Honestly, playing Bastion is a unique experience in Overwatch 2, and getting a 'Play of the Match' with him always feels incredibly satisfying. He truly is absolutely so much fun once you get the hang of balancing his modes. What are your favorite Bastion strategies or memorable moments?
