grieving my children and grandbaby

Losing my mother on June 25, 2024, my daughter Journee, my granddaughter Alanee on October 15, 2024, and now my firstborn, Ashlee, has changed me forever. Grief is no longer something I visit it is something I live alongside.

I’ve learned that grief doesn’t have a finish line. Some days are heavier than others, and that’s okay.

Ways I’m Learning to Acknowledge and Coexist With Grief

🤍 Acknowledging Grief

Grief is a natural response to love and loss. There is no right or wrong way to feel.

🪷 Allow yourself to grieve without judgment

🪷 Take it one moment at a time healing isn’t linear

🪷 Lean into people who will listen, sit quietly, or simply understand

... Read moreGrief is deeply personal and often unpredictable, especially when it involves the loss of loved ones as close as children and grandchildren. When experiencing such profound loss, it's important to recognize that grief doesn't follow a strict timeline; each person's healing process is unique. One crucial aspect is to allow yourself to feel your emotions without judgment, acknowledging that your pain is valid, no matter how intense or confusing it may feel. Support systems play a vital role in managing grief. Whether it’s trusted friends, family members, or support groups, surrounding yourself with people who listen and understand can provide immense relief. Quiet companionship can also be healing when words seem insufficient. Sharing your story, like many do on platforms such as Lemon8, can foster a sense of community and reduce feelings of isolation. Practical steps, like commemorating the lives of your loved ones, can also aid the grieving process. Memorial services or personal rituals honor their memory and create spaces to express love and loss. From the OCR text, we see names and dates for Ashlee Lindell Padgett (9/16/96-12/8/25), Alanee Grace Payne (6/22/24 - 10/15/24), and Journee Padgett (1/30/05 - 10/15/24), underscoring the deep personal impact these losses have on families. Healing requires patience and self-compassion. Some days will be heavier than others, and that is perfectly natural. Acknowledging grief as a companion rather than an enemy helps transform sorrow into a source of growth. In time, grief may shift from intense pain to a more manageable presence that honors the love shared. If you or someone you know is grieving, remember that reaching out for help is a sign of strength. Professional counseling or grief-focused therapy can provide tools to cope and rebuild your life. Grief connects us through shared human experience, reminding us of the profound love behind the loss.

Grieving the loss of someone who’s still alive
Losing someone important to you due to their own choices can be one of the most difficult experiences any human could endure. The sheer part of letting go is the hardest. Why would you let go of someone that’s still there? Doesn’t that show YOU’VE given up? Or maybe you agree to the choice as well?

Some nights are heavier than others. The kind of nights where the memories are loud, the silence feels different, and healing doesn’t feel as easy as people think it should. But even in grief, you’re still growing. You’re still healing. You’re still becoming. So if tonight feels hard for you

You think you’re ANGRY. But you’re grieving 🤔
Underneath anger… there’s always grief. And no one ever taught you how to tell the difference. You weren’t “too emotional.” You were grieving. And no one noticed. They said you had “anger issues.” But no one ever asked what your rage was protecting. No one ever saw the child in the fire.
