This was my first experience picking a puppy, but I was mostly confident doing so since I’d worked with so many different kennels and helped raise several litters/saw how they turned out. It’s always a bit of a gamble, and with working dogs it’s most ideal to wait until 2ish before making any decisions - but this gamble turned out to be a win! Everybody wish Summit a great first race ❤️ #mushing #dogsport #ethicalbreeding #puppy #workingdog

... Read moreSelecting a working dog puppy is always a leap of faith, especially when the final potential and temperament aren’t fully clear until they mature around two years old. From my own experience with Summit, it truly felt like a winning gamble. I focused heavily on specific traits that would define a successful musher’s partner. For example, appetite is incredibly important—a great eater can maintain the energy levels required for long, demanding runs. Another key characteristic I sought was the natural gait, specifically a trotter rather than other movement types, as it suits endurance sled work best. Structurally, I wanted a dog on the larger side, balanced in build, and with solid overall health. Summit ended up weighing about 50 pounds and wearing a size seven and a half harness, which was just right for the demands of mushing. It's also important to accept that puppies go through awkward adolescent phases where they can look clumsy or unbalanced. Summit was no exception. But seeing how he outgrew those stages and developed into a beautiful mover was incredibly rewarding. Beyond physical traits, attitude plays a huge role. Summit is one of the happiest, most outgoing dogs I’ve encountered—qualities that make training joyful and build a strong bond. In addition to physical and behavioral traits, ethical breeding considerations guided my choice, ensuring Summit came from a healthy, well-socialized litter. Ethical breeding supports healthier dogs with better temperaments, which is critical for long-term success in any dog sport. Training for Summit’s first race has been an eye-opening journey. Watching him progress, testing his limits, and seeing his natural trotting gait in action confirmed I made the right choice. For anyone considering selecting a working puppy, patience is key—waiting until they mature will provide a clearer picture. But with the right knowledge and guidance, that gamble can turn into a rewarding partnership just like Summit’s.

Why you should NOT get back with your ex
1. Patterns of behavior: If your ex did you wrong the first time, it's likely they will repeat the same patterns of behavior. People often revert to their old habits, even after a breakup. 2. Broken trust: Trust is hard to rebuild once it's broken. If your ex betrayed your trust before,
