Selecting a working dog puppy is always a leap of faith, especially when the final potential and temperament aren’t fully clear until they mature around two years old. But seeing how he outgrew those stages and developed into a beautiful mover was incredibly rewarding. Beyond physical traits, attitude plays a huge role. Summit is one of the happiest, most outgoing dogs I’ve encountered—qualities that make training joyful and build a strong bond. In addition to physical and behavioral traits, ethical breeding considerations guided my choice, ensuring Summit came from a healthy, well-socialized litter. Ethical breeding supports healthier dogs with better temperaments, which is critical for long-term success in any dog sport. Training for Summit’s first race has been an eye-opening journey. Watching him progress, testing his limits, and seeing his natural trotting gait in action confirmed I made the right choice.
